I use notability every single day of classes and I absolutely adore it. The one thing I HATE though is the lack of a redo button. I have tried five different solutions to the slippery pen on the glass. I tried plumbers’ tape, silicone paint, a silicone nib and Teflon tape. The thing that works best is a very thin strip of humble masking tape wrapped around the tip. I have to replace it about once a week but I am writing on my iPad about 30 hours a week (I am in math and physics tutor). It provides just enough tack that the pen is not so slippery. It also helps to keep the screen clean so the tape doesn’t get greasy. I can’t tolerate the loss of image quality on that beautiful iPad Pro screen. The tape also keeps the clicking noise down when I am recording videos. And for anyone who does a lot of math on the iPad, the killer feature is lines snap straight and you can draw any kind of polygon or rectangle or circle or ellipse directly. No other app has this feature as far as I know.

I understand the value of the recording synchronization in a classroom lecture setting but that function aside, I can’t agree with your conclusion. I did not like the selection of page formats in GoodNotes, and so I went into Affinity Publisher and made my own. Being able to change the line spacing and make the forms anyway I wanted was a significant improvement. Still, an even bigger improvement was to add hyperlinks to the pages being able to jump to a different section of the notebook was useful to me. I couldn't bring myself to put a screen protector on my beautiful iPad Pro screen so what I did was take a piece of masking tape and cut it into an hourglass shape with the small part of the hourglass the same width as the Apple Pencil and then wrap the tape around the Apple Pencil tip. The tape gives a little bit of drag to the tip. It does not interfere with the pen's pressure sensitivity. I have a light touch, so the tape lasts me for a couple of days if I do a lot of drawing it only last one day. I cut out ten pieces of tape at a time, so it only takes a minute to change the tape out when it gets worn down. Give it a try by making up a few hourglass shapes, and you'll be surprised at how different the pen feels. I like your videos now that I'm retired I watch a lot of YouTub and Skillshare, and I am always looking for a better way to learn. You make it easy to learn! Keep up the excellent work.

I think it helps to play around with the apps and see what works in real life. I really loved Goodnotes in the Apple Store (using the iPad demo), but when I used it at home, I found it too cluttery. And not quick to use on the fly. Noteabilty just "got out of way" and was more practical day to day. The features seem easier to access while writing. Really like the pen color choose options better, infinite scroll, better import options and the pencil tap-hold to magnify feature. Goodnotes has better paper templates. But that was the only thing I liked better. All the note programs seem to have lackluster organizing. But they are adding better and better search.
