I have the PaperLike screen protector on my iPad and it has made writing on the iPad so much better and has reduced that super slippery feeling when writing with the Pencil. Great video thanks for the content. I use Noteability myself and love the recording while taking notes it helps so much when you need to go back and study or if you missed something while taking notes during a lecture.

My ipad and apple pencil are the best things I have ever owned. I don’t ever use paper and my laptop anymore. The app I use is … the free note app. It has lined paper, squared paper, bunch of colors and tools, you can draw, write and highlight, switch to typing, add a link, add an image, add audio … it has it all for me, I am just a simple college student.

I use notability every single day of classes and I absolutely adore it. The one thing I HATE though is the lack of a redo button. Yes, there is the ability to hold undo, but there's massive amounts of dead space on that top bar, so why can't I have a redo button instead of the slow process of holding down undo?

I have tried five different solutions to the slippery pen on the glass. I tried plumbers’ tape, silicone paint, a silicone nib and Teflon tape. The thing that works best is a very thin strip of humble masking tape wrapped around the tip. I have to replace it about once a week but I am writing on my iPad about 30 hours a week (I am in math and physics tutor). It provides just enough tack that the pen is not so slippery. It also helps to keep the screen clean so the tape doesn’t get greasy. I can’t tolerate the loss of image quality on that beautiful iPad Pro screen. The tape also keeps the clicking noise down when I am recording videos. And for anyone who does a lot of math on the iPad, the killer feature is lines snap straight and you can draw any kind of polygon or rectangle or circle or ellipse directly. No other app has this feature as far as I know.

I can carry all my notebooks at once (40 at this moment) sort them by subject or location (school, church, staff meeting) and then make files under each divider. Easy way out: Try to stop pretending what people are thinking about you. YOU DONT KNOW, you wont ever know. Also, keep in mind that if you are usually concerneed about what people are thinking about you, it also goes the other way around. Knowing this will help you feel at easy. Imagination is one of the most powerful things, whatever you imagine your brain will try to look for clues that confirm that idea.

5:00 On that recording feature, just note that some universities/colleges might not allow you to take recordings of classes (or even snippets of classes) without explicit permission. I received permission to record my classes if I wanted through disability accommodations my college offered. Don't use a recording feature during class without notifying the teacher or looking into your state laws because laws on recording without permission varies between states in the US.

I’ve tried five different solutions including screen protectors which IMO degrade the picture quality unacceptably.

I understand the value of the recording synchronization in a classroom lecture setting but that function aside, I can’t agree with your conclusion. For me, the “infinite page” design of Notability is a no-go. I want the traditional page structure to most closely emulate a paper journal. Also, you might make mention of PaperLike. It makes the overall experience much more like pencil/pen on paper.

There is a feature that I always look for in note-taking apps: the ability to import a multi-page PDF document (say, a book) in the app in such a way that I can then write and add stuff both on it (all apps do this) and also AROUND it as if the note-page was infinite in all directions (only OneNote can do this, to my knowledge). Could you recommend apps that do this? Thanks :)

I noticed that you didn't mention that Noteshelf has the ability to sync with Apple watch. Noteability does not have that as of right now.

I wanted to personally thank you for partnering with skill share because I knew that I would be too chicken to get it myself, but having 2 free months is awesome. I love your content and I appreciate your hard work

If you like the way writing on paper feels, buy a matt screen protector for your I-Pad! Great video!

I did not like the selection of page formats in GoodNotes, and so I went into Affinity Publisher and made my own. Being able to change the line spacing and make the forms anyway I wanted was a significant improvement. Still, an even bigger improvement was to add hyperlinks to the pages being able to jump to a different section of the notebook was useful to me. I couldn't bring myself to put a screen protector on my beautiful iPad Pro screen so what I did was take a piece of masking tape and cut it into an hourglass shape with the small part of the hourglass the same width as the Apple Pencil and then wrap the tape around the Apple Pencil tip. The tape gives a little bit of drag to the tip. It does not interfere with the pen's pressure sensitivity. I have a light touch, so the tape lasts me for a couple of days if I do a lot of drawing it only last one day. I cut out ten pieces of tape at a time, so it only takes a minute to change the tape out when it gets worn down. Give it a try by making up a few hourglass shapes, and you'll be surprised at how different the pen feels. I like your videos now that I'm retired I watch a lot of YouTub and Skillshare, and I am always looking for a better way to learn. You make it easy to learn! Keep up the excellent work.

Idky I find it difficult to write on these as opposed to pen and paper. I know that journaling is classic and I really want to upgrade my life and start writing on an iPad. Anyway, I appreciate all of your videos. Hoping you collab with Ali Abdaal and Matt D'Avella in one vid! 👍

The more videos I see people raving about Notability, the more I as myself "why?". I purchased it and regret it 5 minutes later. I can't stand the interface, I don't like how is the layout, and I can't stand the way notebooks are stored, it confuses me. I tried to like it and I can't =( to me the flow of goodnotes is the best, it feels clean and it just needs to add the audio function and to me it will be the perfect note-taking app.

I totally agree. and I totally understand. I really want(ed) to like OneNote. I simply can't, and I couldn't even tell why. I know it's great, I know it has all the features, I just don't like it

I think it helps to play around with the apps and see what works in real life. I really loved Goodnotes in the Apple Store (using the iPad demo), but when I used it at home, I found it too cluttery. And not quick to use on the fly. Noteabilty just "got out of way" and was more practical day to day. The features seem easier to access while writing. Really like the pen color choose options better, infinite scroll, better import options and the pencil tap-hold to magnify feature. Goodnotes has better paper templates. But that was the only thing I liked better. All the note programs seem to have lackluster organizing. But they are adding better and better search.
