The keyboard shortcut for the Snipping Tool on Windows is: Window key + Shift + S, no need for a third party software! You can also enable a feature to take several screenshots and keep them in your clipboard, so when you Ctrl+V to paste you can choose the screenshot you want.

For some reason, I find the Desktop app to be much slower on both my Windows Desktop and macOS laptop. It's not like its a hardware constraint either...I'm running a M1 Pro laptop, and a i7-9700k w/ 16GB of Memory on an m.2 NVMe desktop. I use a Chromium-based browser on both, and it loads and runs so much faster in a browser. Anyone know why?

From Windows 10 onwards, you can also just press [Shift]+[Windows]+[S] to drag a screenshot like you would in snipping tool (additional functionality is included as well) and it'll be in your clipboard, and you can press [Windows]+[Print Screen] to screenshot your entire screen(s) and have it saved as png automatically.
@Aliocantinea2 жыл бұрын
You can also allow windows to keep more than one item in your clipboard, I like to snip a few things than [windows]+[v] which will show you the clipboard items you have saved! So nice for multiple items that you want to keep for quickly pasting! You can even pin items and on windows 11 it also has the emoji keyboard too and other items

Yep! Snipping Tool is great - I mentioned it briefly. I don't think you actually need to load OneNote for it. I just prefer ShareX because it can do a lot more. Specifically, the annotation tools are a lot better, and there's also OCR you can use to parse text from images.

Would be really cool to see some videos about the design considerations that went into building your templates. I was a big fan of UT, but I made a LOT of changes to the workflow to make it more gtd'ey. Now with UB I am once again making lots of adjustments, and it is surprisingly difficult to design adjustments without lots of kinks or leaks on the workflow. For example, you explained this a lot with "cold tasks", about how there was a particular issue with low priority tasks clogging the workflow, and how you resolved that with the "cold" category. It would be awesome to learn about other issues that might commonly occur in people's custom workflows, and mechanisms to address them.

Would like to add that having a ton of content on a single Notion page makes it lag a lot if you have a potato of a computer, but putting that content into toggle headings actually speeds things up. I guess Notion doesn't load content inside a toggle heading until it's opened, which has been helpful to me. I appreciate the turn command. Though it doesn't work on the mobile app (slash commands don't work at all 😟). Thanks!

I know this is an old video. I set up a CRM for my health ins business in Notion. Mainly with your videos. Then when I started using it the 2nd day I went to add a new client and Notion just bogged down and wouldn’t load the page template I needed. This was insane. Exactly what I needed to do wouldn’t work. I can’t have this at all. The page had no cover image, the page loaded, but the template did not. It was NOT a complicated template only 3 toggle lists. I really wonder if I should junk this for a spreadsheet crm.

Okay NotionMan, I can't find the answer to this any where. I want to do what the Notion WebClipper does - when I add a page it not only creates a database entry (for its URL) it also makes a web block containing the URL in the page body. How does that happen? Is it a Make/Zapier thing or is there a where for me to go through my database and say "if URL in fieldX make a web block with that URL". How does one do that?
@ThomasFrankExplains2 жыл бұрын
This isn't something you can do in the native Notion app, but it's possible using the Notion API. I haven't tried replicating the web clipper in Make/Zapier yet, but you'd either use one of those tools or code a custom integration (probably a browser extension in this case). It'd probably be best to try it in Make/Zapier if you're not an experienced developer - I'm only just now learning JavaScript so I can try to build my own API integrations in the future. In this particular case, you'll also need some kind of tool for actually sending the web page to Notion. The web clipper is a Chrome extension, but to do it yourself you'd probably want to use something else. You could perhaps use email (just email the URL to Zapier), or try to integrate a service like Pocket with Notion via Zapier/Make. (Also, check out Save to Notion - I prefer it to the web clipper! chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/save-to-notion/ldmmifpegigmeammaeckplhnjbbpccmm?hl=en)

How can you confirm notion is using the largest resolution options from Unsplash? Does it tell us somewhere?
@ThomasFrankExplains2 жыл бұрын
You can see it if you open Developer Tools (easiest way is to right-click and hit Inspect Element anywhere), then go to the Sources tab. Here's that tab from a test page in my workspace with an Unsplash image attached - you can see that my header photo is 3.9mb! i.imgur.com/66bzYUS.png At smaller screen widths, Notion tries to pull a scaled-down version of the image, which should help performance. But at full width, I'm getting this unnecessarily huge image.

Thanks for your content!! I have a few questions about the new Cron acquisition by Notion. Any thoughts? If they are going to do a pilot or Beta, I would love to be able to participate!

The details on that are pretty light right now. I did just get an invite to Cron so I've been playing with the app a little (though I may not make a video on it for a while - I'm deep in another HUGE project). For now, I know Notion plans on keeping the Cron app running on its own, and exploring connections between it. Beyond that, we don't have any info. I can speculate that maybe they'll use it as a bridge between Notion and other calendar apps. Or it could possibly be more of an acquihire situation like with Automate.io...

Interesting - which newsletter are you on? I sent a launch email to my Notion Tips email list back in April, and posted a full video on the template a couple weeks ago. The main thing I haven't done is market it to my main College Info Geek list or to my main channel - but that's actually on purpose. I'm trying to avoid a gigantic influx of sales that would overwhelm my support team (just one person at the moment) and harm the customer experience. One thing I'm trying to keep in mind is that I'm in a non-typical position; most products have to grind hard to build their marketing channels, but I'm doing it backwards. I already have the marketing channels. So I run the risk of overpromising and underdelivering due to the scale of things. That said, once we're comfortable with our support processes, I'll be starting to market more on the main channel :)
