I am a Mighty Marching Hornet at Alabama State University and I want to congratulate you all (NCAT) on a stellar performance at this year's HBOB! I was really in awe by the technique, showmanship, and style displayed by this school! I would have not chosen another school to take home the title at this yrs comp., and I want to express my sincerest gratitude for the bar that you all have set for our schools. Way to innovate! #HBCULOVE #HBCUPRIDE #TOGETHERWESTAND!! 🎵🎶🎼

So I’ve recently fell in love with A&T. I’ve watched everything from the last two years and decided to start going back. Stumbled upon this gem and wow. What a show! 💛💙

That ending gave me "Chills" in person and watching this video. I am truly amazed by the level of difficulity and effort that this band produces. It is clear that you have influenced SCSU as they are constantly trying to take there show out of the box as well, with limited results. A&T truly deserved this win! Great Job!!!!

I marched my first step in the A&T Band in 1965 and since that first step I have loved and supported the A&T Band...but never in all of those years have I been as stunned after a performance as I was at the Honda Battle of the Bands last Saturday. I've seen and heard the Blue and Gold Marching Machine and Golden Delight do some great shows but this show was amazing! Dr. Ruff has taken the A&T Band program to a new level...one that other HBCU's will copy in the future. Thanks to Dr. Ruff, Thomas, Donte, Reshonda, Tiffany, Tanika, Ron, Harvey and the rest of the staff for one hell-of-a performance. And thanks to all of the kids that put in all those long hours throughout the year so old guys like me can say "Aggie Pride!"

I'm officially a FAN! I went to CAU, but I think that NCA&T has revolutionized HBCU marching performances as most people know it. I think HBCU bands have started to become too mundane.....March, Play, Dance Feature, Play, Slow Concert Song, Dance, Finish......I love how the dancers were a part of the WHOLE performance and not just a feature. Costume changes, Flag color changes, a true PRODUCTION!!! It actually brought chills to my skin and that's a good thing. I think people have, like the announcer said, marginalized HBCU Bands, and its good to see a little diversity now. Not to say no one else have ever changed it up, but this needs to be the standard now at the Battle of the Bands. Show off your creativity and versatility and show these Ivy League schools that we can do more than just dance. Great Job!

I wish the historically HBCU band heavyweights (Southern, FAMU, Grambling, TSU, etc..) had participated. That way, there would be no question that this year's NCA&T band is in a league of their own. All of this year's Honda participants were good but A&T took it to whole new level. I'm now wondering, where do they go from here. I loved this show because it might be the best performance by a show band, ever......

I honestly feel that NC A&T is one of the few HBCU's (or high stepping bands for that matter) that can put on a show just as amazing as The Crossmen from DCI. I do however agree with Desmond on it not being a DCI caliber show, when it comes to formations anyway. I mean this performance can definitely go toe to toe with CC's E=mc^2 show last year for musicality. But unlike Desmond, I feel the drumline here is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than those in DCI (excluding the Blue Devils/Jersey Surf). I mean yeah you have your basic drumming and sticking in DCI, but then you have the complicated stick movements/rhythems/and general show styleness (Idk what else to call it) and all of that having to sync together just seems to me to require more patience and focus and just all around skill.
@ayantee196910 жыл бұрын
Thank you for you honest comments. The challenge for most HBCU bands is changing their shows every week. You cannot do the same game every week. If they have 7 home games, they have to create 7 different shows. The show you saw at the Honda was implemented after the Christmas break so the kids only had about two weeks to learn the music and perfect the steps. This was A&T first step into the DCI arena and it will not be their last. And they will get better and better with time. But this wasn't a bad first step...definitely entertaining.

@ayantee196910 жыл бұрын
Historically all HBCU halftime shows will include comments by an announcer. The trick for the announcer is to not talk "too" much and distract from the performance. Sometimes the announcers job is to cover up for a crappy band performance. That wasn't the case here. If you want to see the performance without the announcer, there is a KZbin video of their rehearsal. Same performance without the announcer or the crowd.

A&T's performance (.. music selection; sound quality; ballad arrangements; auxiliary (flags; dance team; drum majors)) was excellent. One weakness, though: A&T needs to be about 300 people instead of near 200 for visual optics and sound projection purposes. If this were implemented, A&T would crush all other bands; without it, A&T always remains a top 5-10 band surrounded by others (... BCU, FAMU, PVA&M, etc.).

mad? HA...not at all. i have been a fan of BGMM back in the '90s in the Hodge era when they were beasting on FAMU and other bands in the MEAC/SWAC. i was always impressed w/the sound and variety of music selections that they would perform during that time. as an HBCU alum, there is nothing for me to hate on. i just see what's wrong and point them out without the usual pat on the back and great job when in reality that doesn't always make a product better if the flaws are not pointed out to be accepting of those pats on the back. there lies the problem, Mr. Jones, the small problems are those you can fix immediately, which will ultimately make a smoother transition to the bigger ones. but, obviously, you in your preparation of dreaming big you compensated for the smaller things that are at times more blatantly bigger than your dreams to correct them. we preach attention detail in corporate america because they outweigh the bigger picture through time management. but, i digress and you continue to teach the youth of tomorrow. thnks, mgmt.

A&T sounded great and all...but let's not get too carried away. This was not a DCI caliber show. And I hope you don't seriously believe that HBCU drumlines have "more rhythm" than those in DCI. If so, let me assure you that you are mistaken. Again, this was an outstanding performance and very deserving of the fan favorite award.
@MrSaitekController11 жыл бұрын
Desmond Moore I believe rhythm is the wrong word to use in this explanation. DCI drumlines utilize more technical patterns and HBCU drumlines utilize more groovy patterns. They both possess equal rhythm in my opinion. Rhythm is used in both technical and groove patterns. Rhythm is just a repeated pattern of movement and/or sound.

Great job BGMM! Great work media team you guys always make it happen. But GAred1976 I respect your opinion but really yo the lines? Seriously? The corporate America line came out of nowhere but in corporate America the main goal is to be innovative, have the next big thing or idea. Impress the people to buy in which is what exactly A&T did. Keep up the great work BGMM. Gotta stop thinking so traditional.
