Without your playing style and input Blind Guardian never sounded as agressive and direct after you left, in my personal opion when you gone some part of magic of you guys had playing together was forever lost. I adored your last album with them"night at opera". One of the best drum performances I ever heard,so much great ideas and drumming solutions. I'd like to tell you a story Thomen, but we have to go long back in time. I was a young guy of 17 years old (now I'm turning 38 next december) who listened classic music for the most and just the classic songs of Rock. One day I was at school and a schoolmate called Ivan brings two CDs: one was FORGOTTEN REALMS and the second one was NIGHTFALL. He came closer to me and he says "Francesco, you have to listen this guys". I brought those CDs to home, I've listened them and I was completely in shock because I've never heard anything so epic and powerful in my life before that day. I could say BG was the first ever metal band I've ever heard and I can say my path through this kind of music isn't already stopped and I think it would never stop. Thank you so much for being part of the initialization of my path, I hope your health will be good and I hope, one day, to see you somewhere here in Italy for a concert. And I need your sign on my copy of NIGHTFALL and IMAGINATIONS (signs of Hansi and Andrè are already there) :)

When i was teenager (back to '97) and I was at home with my best friend we used to listen BG a lot and my friend doesn't like heavy metal at all but he loved BG, because they were really good at that time!

Fantastic. I've always loved all the performances on this song. I didn't realise until I watched this video that you shift the on-beat in the chorus halfway. First half, snare on the down beat, second half on the off beat. That's why it always felt so intense, and I'm thrilled with this. I miss the old days, Thomen. When I imported Tales and Somewhere in the early '90's into the States for a hefty price when there was no other way to get those CD's, I felt like a kid in a candy store. I heard your drumming behind all the fantasy-esque atmosphere and stopped listening to so many american bands for months on end 😂
