Am I the only one bothered by how they handled The Warriors 3? They're killed off as if they were just some random Asgardians and no one, especially Thor, ever seems to care or even mention it. Also wish they would've explained if Hulk can turn back into Banner or not, but I take it Infinity War will address this.

Yeah, especially after all they've been through, Hogun was the only one that went down heroically. They did Volstagg and Fandrall dirty. If I was Zachary Levi I wouldn't have even got out of bed to have no lines and get killed like fodder. Literally the only thing I didn't like about the movie.

The one thing I loved most about the movie was how they made it clear that mjonir only focused Thor's power. The inscription makes it clear, "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor" Its Thor's power. I am glad Thor finally knows that.
@tmtchannel36857 жыл бұрын
But what is the hammer then? I mean its not just a tool for thor and his pwers, because he could only weild it... doesnt that mean that the hammer does contain power... just no lightening powers.
@coldfire227 жыл бұрын
The hammer is a powerful weapon that helps Thor focus his power and gives him the ability to fly. In the comics the idea of it have a consciousness is toyed with. And if the hammer deems you worthy (thats where the consciousness comes in to play) you too can have the power of Thor.
@madseraphim7 жыл бұрын
it was pretty obvious that he doesnt need the hammer, to be called god of thunder. hela isnt goddess of death because of her sword and loki not a god of mischief bec of his dagger, and so on. i already predicted that thru the trailer. so predictable movie.
@Indioprophecy817 жыл бұрын
And then Thor went Super Saiyan Raiden.
@alex-ug7xc7 жыл бұрын
Well that inscription must've been added after it became Thor's, not when it was created. You see Hela holding the hammer in the wall painting and her time was way before Thor was born. But I agree that what they did was perfect.

"You don't see her as an active force to destroy asgard." Dude, she doesn't want to destroy asgard, she wants to rule it. She spends most of the movie trying to achieve her goal: create an undead asgardian army, and conquer the galaxy. She just got delayed because heimdal kept the bifrost on lockdown. I agree with you that she's pretty run-of-the-mill standard villain, and that she really isn't that deep. But for what she was, and the tone of the movie, she's really well executed. She's like the best vanilla ice-cream you've ever head. Really good, but it's still vanilla.

Did these “reviewers” understand the movie? She couldn’t get to Asgard in the first place without the Bifrost, by way of Loki accidentally...she can’t conquer the galaxy without the sword to activate the Bifrost and leave Asgard with her undead army...she had her army actively pursing Heimdall to get the sword. She didn’t want to destroy Asgard because she is Asgard, she was powering up...she was getting stronger just by being there. All she wanted was for them to bow down to her, conquer the galaxy and restore Asgard to their proper place. Whoever wasn’t on board and tried to fight her, she killed. Asgardians are her ppl she didn’t want to kill them.
@headspaceastronaut7 жыл бұрын
Why would Hela want to destroy Asgard? it's the source of her power! They explain this many times! She just wants to use Asgard as a starting point to conquer the rest of the realms. Two storylines ruined in my opinion, Ragnarok\Planet Hulk. Neither of these story lines are comedies. I understand some comedy im all for some levity but constantly joking about everything the entire movie gets old. It’s like i was watching 21 Jump Street or a 2 hour Saturday Night Live skit. You have Guardians which is Marvels comedy movie, even Antman gives you a lot of laughs but does Thor have to be Will Ferrell now. This movie i think will appeal to a lot of children and people who don’t understand where the story was derived from. Was It the worst comic movie ever no but i didn’t come into this expecting to watch a 2 plus hour comedy routine. Im personally disappointed but It seems to please most people in the comments, guess looking at It from the story being a serious event in the comics to It being turned into a buddy comedy with no real sense of threat was a bit off putting for me. Thor’s trilogy as a whole is pretty pathetic. Guardians wasn’t that good now this, Marvel is heading in the wrong direction to me smh.

My main complaint is not only was there little emotional state you felt after Odin's random out of the blue death but Hela just straight up murdered the Warriors Three like it was nothing and the movie just moves along with no mention or thought at all. Thor doesn't care to look for them or even ask. And where the hell is Sif? Like for real. Not even a mention? Like what the hell? They felt the need to mention Jane but not Sif?
@Madboi_917 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the warriors three deserved more in my opinion. Fandral and Volstagg get killed off so quickly. We see them for like literally 30 seconds and they get destroyed. Hogun is the only one who puts up any kind of fight. And i did miss Sif. She would be devastated to hear that her friends and asgard was gone. Maybe she'll appear in agents of shield and talk about it...... But I'm thinking they didn't have enough screen-time for her i guess. There's only so much time in a film to share between actors. Also maybe the actress couldn't come back to reprise her role or something. Idk. All in all i loved the hell out of this movie still. No movie is without its faults...

I haven't read any of the other comments, so someone might already pointed this out: Hella didn't go conquering more worlds and was stuck hanging out on the throne whilst her undead henchmen searched that flat earth for "dissidents" because Heimdall was quick as hell nicking the sword that is the key for Bifrost. Without that no one can go anywhere, looking for Thor or other worlds to take. So I think the movie followed its own rules quite well.

I agree. I don't have a problem with Thor getting a strength boost for this movie, because I've always liked Thor as a hero. However, since when does the Hulk get hit, not get pissed, and get even stronger? No Hulk smash? No Hulk is the strongest one there is? Where is him getting stronger as he gets madder? I know it was a Thor movie, but at least get your main hero co-star right. At least Marvel got him right in the first Avengers movie, but he's been portrayed incorrectly in every movie except that one...
@thewatcher85737 жыл бұрын
Hulk had a lot of time to simmer in his body for the first time, and now instead of a big angry baby, he's more like a toddler and has a little more control. He's learned to speak now, I don't think that even the Hulk could stay at 100% level anger 24/7.
@Young8mvp7 жыл бұрын
I'm not talking about 24/7, I'm talking about during a fight. Perhaps Banner was limiting the Hulk's strength when he saw Thor, which I would be fine with, but that was never touched on so I don't think it would be valid...

Ah I see what your saying, It did bug me a little when Hulk was pulling his punches but then I thought exactly what you said, maybe he held back when he recognized Thor, could've been touched on a little more concrete, but I think Hulk was definitely still his good ol' angry self during that fight.

Can we please not blame Cate Blanchett's Hela for not being as strong of an active force! If you want to place the blame on anyone, it would be on the writers and Taika. Cate does an amazing job with the limited screen time she is given and my one main qualm about Thor:Ragnarok is that they didn't give more time for Hela. Also, about the flashback scenes. While it was visually stunning and beautifully designed, I wish Taika showed more of that flashback. Unlike Wonder Woman's story time flashback at the beginning, there was more depth and explanation. The Hela vs. Valkyrie scene was pretty much all we got to see from the trailers, which was disappointing.

Wished they would have talked about that funny scene when they were doing the play on Asgard!!!! With those guys acting as Thor and Loki. I was balling 😂 hard!!!! Haha

Her birth rite was not to destroy Asgard but rule and conquer more realms, so her sitting around doing nothing was her searching for the sword to invade other realms. She can't go any where without the bifrost.

To add to everything else you said about the opening scene, I also felt that it actually served as a farewell to the hammer and the "old Thor." The way it was shot during the fight blasting through enemies with Thor guiding it in the background was probably one of my favorite moments in a Marvel action scene

There was way too much comedy. Thor is no way near that funny ever in any form. The action improved but the comedy wasn't needed every time possible. You can almost count the seconds from when Thor was going to say a joke. The gotg tone isn't needed for every movie. It works for that story. Other uses of it just seems like a copy of it. Its a watchable movie. The jokes distract from the moments. When asguard is destroyed, there isn't a need for a joke. His home was destroyed. Hulk, Valkyrie, and Loki were good but some of cast was iffy. Goldbum and help work. The director as korg was annoying at times.

hella doesn't pursue thor because she thought he was dead in being ejected from the transportation. she was relishing her rise to power and was purposely being slow and methodical in dealing with the commoners because she knows none of them are a threat to her. as for going beyond asgard she was ready to do that. that is why the hunt for the sword is a moving plot point but she has no interest in dirtying her own hands in the search of it.

I felt as though I had been transported back to 1980 to see Flash Gordon. While I liked the movie.... there was a bit too much comedy. It was jerky and not smooth humor. I would still see this again while in the theaters but it does NOT crack the top 50. This film had the bones to be the top but falls short.

14:53 Not saying she's the best villain ever but Hela was stuck on Asgard and needed the sword to leave. That's why she was "just there." I was however bothered by the Warriors 3. They were just cast aside and Sif was nowhere. When Thor returned you would think he would seek them out maybe? Or mourn them?

I give it a 9/10! It’s a very tight story. One of my favorite scenes is when Thor and Doctor Strange teleport around the sanctorum. 😄 Another favorite scene of mine was when Hela singlehandedly destroys the entire Asgardian army.
@JC-rm6pm7 жыл бұрын
so no one will mention how fast Hela killed Thor's former team? First the 2 guys when she arrives to Asgard and then the other guy trying to fight her? I mean, that was seconds for three great warriors from the other 2 Thor movies. We always say, "that movie could have been 20-30 shorter", this time I feel this movie needed 15-20 more minutes, the pacing was great but some scenes needed more time to breathe. However this was my favorite Marvel movie this year and it's on my top5 MCU movies for sure... for now..
@jasonreynolds56337 жыл бұрын
I don't get how you can say Hela did not actively pursue her goals of taking over the nine realms. She shows up takes over Asgard goes and raises her army. Then she goes to the Bifrost and finds the sword that can activate it missing so she sends her people out to find it. When that doesn't work she threatens to kill some citizens until they tell her where the sword is, which they do. She goes to get the sword, but by this time Thor showed up and was rescuing everyone and fighting her for the end of the movie. It might seem like a lot of time had passed because of the Thor story line but they mention that the time on Skara passes differently then the rest of the world. So what took Thor maybe a week to do most likely was one day on Asgard

Finally the wait is over and got the chance to see Thor: Ragnarok in IMAX at Cinemark 17. I have to say if Freddy Mercury was alive today he would have loved Thor: Ragnarok period. The film had so much nod to the 80's from start to finish and that fit theme of the film perfectly. Taika Waititi just went all out for this film by combining everything from the First Thor film, Avengers, Avengers Age of Ultron, The Fifth Element, Guardians of the Galaxy Vols 1 & 2, Knight Rider and the list just goes on. Thor: Ragnarok really was an amalgamation and the culmination of his journey coming full circle. Of course the Planet Hulk and Ragnarok storylines are big influences to the story but also seeing some of the classic Jack Kirby art coming to life just gave goosebumps in a good way as well as Walt Simonson's run on Thor. My favorite part with Thor: Ragnarok where art was imitating life was with Surtur and Hela because Taika just brought those 2 characters perfectly especially with the look. Even the other characters such as Korg, Meik, Skurge, Valkyrie, The Grandmaster were also great additions to the 3rd arc for Thor. Their are so many things that I thought were great but it's kind of hard to choose because so much was happening and so all the easter eggs, the crazy cameos were great and I hope they continue that through the next set of films.

Taika is the hero of this movie. His brand of humor, his handle on his vision, and his prowess as a director made this movie something special. He took the best ingredients that Branagh and Taylor squandered and made a delicious film. Awesome job.

The best Marvel movie this year!! I thought it was going to be too jokey all the way through, but it hit the dramatic story beats without dragging and when it's funny, the jokes land (unlike Bruce Banner on the Rainbow bridge...haha)
@jeffnicholas63427 жыл бұрын
I suppose I meant the 'serious' moments--like Odin's 'death'--though not tearful in any capacity weren't undercut by jokes like in Guardians vol.2. I also felt Thor learned something about himself by the end so he actually had a dramatic character-arch...again, not in a tearful way

How was Ego undercut by jokes? That said too many people probably conflate dramatic=tearful

I can't believe no one is talking about this, there was an after credit scene in a past movie where thanos grabs the gauntlet on Asgard and sais "I'll do it myself" but the gauntlet was still on Asgard in this and Asgard was destroyed. Please someone explain. Is this the mcu's first continuity error?
@candacevance31257 жыл бұрын
Ryan 2e in the first Thor, Marvel didn't know if they were going to be able to do Infinity War. The gauntlet in Odin's trophy war was just a nod to comic book fans. As the storylines changed continued it caused a continuity error. Thor Ragnorok corrected the error by having Hela say it was fake.

Come on Schmoes, this movie was good but it wasn't great. It was enjoyable, fun enough for a Saturday evening at the theatres but that's pretty much it. But you guys are talking about it as if this was the best Marvel movie ever. It's good, that's it, nothing less, nothing more.
@earlchatterton91337 жыл бұрын
I personally love Guardians Vol 2. Yeah, there was a lot of comedy in that, but all the characters were so well developed and expanded upon, with a lot of rich emotional elements. Ragnarok doesn't have as much character depth, but does top it in terms of action and pacing. Ragnarok is my fave superhero film of the year, and one of the best MCU films.

And also, Hela didn't want to destroy Asgard and didn't want to destroy the other Realms. She wanted to conquer the other realms.. And the reason why she wasn't "active" is because everything happened very fast and she didn't have the access for the bifrost.. which is a major point of the movie..

Charleston T probably will...it felt very much like her first act
@Willowy137 жыл бұрын
Charleston T Marvel's best villains are the ones with an actor/actress behind it, that is, no CGI. Hargrave, Kingpin, Elektra, Ward, Motomouth, Alexander Pierce, Loki, Zemo all shared a human core of villany. Desire for money and power, ambition, jealousy, revenge... if it is pure CGI (looking at you Dormammu/Ultron), something is missing. That is why I am worried they will made a mess of Thanos (even with the Russo's brother behind it). I hope we see more of Hela.
@charlestont.83697 жыл бұрын
Willowy13 Thanos has to be cgi because he’s a big character. The cgi doesn’t matter, it’s the script and the development of the villain that matters.
