Why did I feel proud that you pronounced Mjolnir correctly! I feel like my little tip worked. This Thor movie was not received as well when it came out. Many felt it wasn't as good. R.I.P. to Ray Stevenson (Volstagg) whom we just lost this week. Frigga's funeral was really amazing on the big screen especially when Odin bangs his staff on the ground and you see the lights go to the sky. Loki's reaction was actually the saddest.

Omg you’re going to love Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It’s in the top five of almost everyone’s list for the MCU. That’s saying a lot when in 2023 there’s 25+ movies and counting, and Winter Soldier still holds its spot. Hell, Captain America: Civil War is also way up there. I think it’s in my top 3.

I think top 5 is getting really crowded now with NWH and GotG3, so not sure if that is still in almost everyone's top 5... TWS is still a fantastic movie though. It's only not in top 5 anymore (for me), because there are A LOT of great movies in the MCU. Edit: CW is still in my top 5 though :)

@@benediktmathes2528 well, I cheat and consider Infinity War and End Game as the same movie haha. But yeah, it’s hard to really pick a Top 5, and I weirdly find it hard to pick my bottom 3. Each trilogy is so uniquely different than the next. AntMan is in my top 5, but it’s a VERY different movie than IronMan and Cap1, GOTG.. but I can watch it over and over and laugh everytime, so it ranks for fun comedic light hearted reasons, yet it still beautifully fits in with the rest of the MCU.

Hey Jax! Love your reactions. The hammer can only be lifted by someone who is "worthy". The definition of worthy is debatable but it comes down to willingness to sacrifice oneself to save others and doing so from a place of humility. Thor in the first movie was arrogant and a warmonger. So, he wasn't worthy until he was sent to earth without his powers and what happened there happened. Also, Rest in Peace Ray Stevenson. He played Volstagg in the Thor movies. He passed away unexpectedly earlier this week.

Handshakes started a long time ago. People used to greet each other with a rock in their hand or a knife or sword or spear... but as we got more civilized people would show their open hand with nothing in it and greet each other that way. Also, people use their own knives, in the olden times, to cut their food and stab other people and such. Again, we got more civilized, so everytime you sit down your knife is placed with the blade facing inward not outward.

I forget if this has been mentioned before to you but here's a fun fact: In the first Thor, Fandral (the robin hood-swashbuckler friend of Thor) was originally offered to Zachary Levi but was declined because Zachary was scheduled to record for his role as Flynn Rider in Tangled so they got Josh Dallas to play him in the first film. Now, in Thor: The Dark World, Josh Dallas was the one to have scheduling conflicts due to being Prince Charming in the Disney show Once Upon a Time. So they went back to Zachary Levi and he accepted. Speaking of Once Upon a Time, though...Sebastian Stan was part of that show as the Mad Hatter but, unlike, Josh Dallas's part, he was only a secondary role. So they were able to complete his story arc very early on so he could leave the show and do with Marvel films.

Jax just to make your MCU journey a little more fun, aside from Stan Lee cameos, you should also be on the lookout for Infinity Stones when watching MCU movies, some of the movies have at least one infinity stone each and some don't. ( not gonna tell what/which MCU movies) These infinity stones are the most powerful items in the Universe, only beings that are powerful can wield them and possess their powers. A lot of times these stones don't appear as stones or sometimes they do look like stones but are hidden within an item (kinda like Horcruxes from Harry Potter). if someone finds all 6 infinity stones, he/she is the most powerful being in the universe and can do whatever he/she wants. which is why they say it is very bad to have infinity stones too close to each and that they must be scattered throughout the universe to the point that it is impossible for them to be found or collected. no one knows what the stones look like now or how they end up where they are now. all anyone who knows about them is they have been here since the beginning and the important thing is that they are scattered throughout the universe we already have the Tesseract which was introduced in the First Captain America Movie and also played a huge role in the Avengers Movie, and now we have the Aether which was introduced in this movie. so that's 2 down and 4 more to go. The 6 Infinity Stones Are Knowns As: Space Stone - The Tesseract Reality Stone - The Aether Soul Stone - ? Mind Stone - ? Time Stone - ? Power Stone - ? dont wanna spoil the rest of the movies to you so its up to you to find out and learn about the other 4 infinity stones which will be introduced in some of the MCU movies you haven't seen yet. So have FUN.

The grenades used by the Dark Elves are black hole grenades. Once thrown they open a small rift that sucks all matter into it in an implosion. Not a very pleasant way to go. With regards to the Tesseract/Ether question. The Tesseract in addition to being a power source of unlimited energy also can create portals to anywhere in the universe. The Ether, also a source of energy, has the ability to alter reality for whoever wields it. The reason Kurse ignored Loki and left him in his cell was because he considered him an Asgardian and thus an enemy of the Dark Elves. He did not know that Loki was actually a Jotun. Pronounced Yoh-tun. 😊

The significance of portals and being able to instantly go from one place to another is vastly overlooked. When you asked where SHIELD is when Dr Selvig was running around naked, that's actually a great question. Yeh they should have been keeping an eye on him for sure, considering his last run-in with Loki. I love how intense and invested you are in these movies. You're definitely more invested than I was when I first saw Dark World (even though I'm a Marvel fan) It's a shame Frigga didn't have more impact on the plot of these movies. Hi on Jaxday. Icymi Ray Stevenson passed away Sunday. He played Volstagg in the Thor movies. Some others are Black Sails, The Book of Eli, King Arthur. ' it's raining cars and aliens'.👍

I think I kinda liked Jane less when she carried out the awful trope of slapping a man 😅. I get that he is not gonna feel it, being a god and all, but sheesh, I can’t believe films still think that’s okay? Ozark did that too with the daughter slapping Wyatt I think, it’s not 1940 anymore 😅

I agree! I'm not a fan of people slapping each other in films when they are mad. ❤️

I think it WAS speeding up, objects are supposed to gain speed while they fall, i don't know if it have a limit based in the weight of the object, because i'm not a scientist and i'm kinda dumb.

Fun fact, on the news segment at 10:09, ITV is a real UK channel, and the presenter is a real-life news presenter! I loved the mix of emotions at the Odin/Loki reveal, and yes, where *is* Odin? 🤔 😄 Also, this is apparently the 666th comment, make of that what you will o_O 😄

Is Loki dead? No, yes, no, no-no-no-no-yes. So mainly no with a little yes and an alligator. 🤔 Also fun fact, the final kiss in the end credits Jane is played by Elsa Pataky (Chris Hemsworth wife) in a wig as Natalie Portman wasn't available when the scene was shot.

I always loved this movie! I think it was one of the better adaptations of the comic books, and really brings to life the many characters and their individual lore, and tech, also all the planets, species. It’s all so cool.

04:50 If I may make a correction, the correct name of Thor's hammer is Jonathan. 100% no fake.

To Thor his hammer only weighs about 10lbs(pound) give or take, (the cannon changes in the comics a bit), but to anybody else that isn't worthy it may as well weigh at much at 1000 Earths. "magic" idk how it works..
