Thor vs Lu Bu may not have been the most memorable fight compared to the rest of the Fights that proceeds it. But like you said, it definitely did it's job in setting the stage of how the rest of the series was going to go, and show the indomitable might of the gods. I'd even go as far as to say it was the subtle start of showing us the God's acknowledgement (however microscopic) of Humanity's Strength and Drive.

Hard agree, rereading it made me notice a lot more foreshadowing of ideas than I never noticed before

Chapter 88 made me like Thor even more.(Y’all should check it out cuz it tells A LOT of lore of the Record of Ragnarok verse)
@SephTheSin4 ай бұрын
Yeah Chapter 88 did a lot to add to Thors characters kinda annoying it came out only shortly after I made the vid but thats just how things go, how he factors into Odins plans going forward will probably tell us a lot more about his character
@karlbenito99928 ай бұрын
I would like to argue that Thor is stronger that Odin numerically. Like he straight up has more fire power, but Odin is a wizard who made a system of magic. He might be the most versatile god in this tournament.

I mean some of the latest chapters prove this when thor almost made odin shit himself from fear because he would piss off thor

To me round one is hella underrated and still ranks as one of my favourite fights. Both Thor and Lu Bu despite the fact that there is little about them in terms of backstory all you need to know about them is clear to understand. Both are victims of their own strength in which they have never felt any joy in their life. Both in their own ways are outsiders of their own kind in which their strength alienates them from everybody else When they finally do face each other it's so interesting an cool seeing their actual personalities come out. As deranged battle maniacs that live for the thrill of the fight regardless of if they die. With Lu Bu finally achieving his dream of finding someone stronger than himself, meanwhile Thor being depressed that the only person who loves battle as much as him and somewhat rivals him as a warrior in strength being killed. Perhaps after the Tournament Thor might fight for Humanity against his father in honour his only friend (or maybe a bit more then friend if the people in Reddit keep talking about.), Lu Bu. Also as a big guy who doesn't talk a lot and keeps to himself. Aswell as being a bloodthirsty maniac I relate a lot to Thor and Lu Bu

its all too easy to take this match at face value because of how simple the fighters are but it really is a great beginning with some of the coolest panels to date
@poseidon69608 ай бұрын
I think what it meant by the strongest is by strength and not abilities etc
@SephTheSin8 ай бұрын
From what I can see the most literal translation is ‘strongest warrior of the Nords’ so not very helpful, personally I imagine Odin although not physically more powerful will be a stronger overall combatant than Thor, but I guess until we see him fight we gotta let Thor keep his title
@synchron18058 ай бұрын
I feel like Thor is strong in strength whereas Odin is strong primarily in strategy making and knowledge/ experience that maybe he’s gained during his existence. Though that’s just me throwing an idea out there.

Yeah Thor probs has the superior raw stats but we all know there's more to strength than just raw power

Thor versus Lu Bu IS the worst round. It is however still one of the greatest fights in fictional history and flawless in every way. Since, of course, this is Record of Ragnarok we're talking about.

I really hope that Odin isn't physically stronger than Thor, but technically more dangerous by way of having a vast arsenal of magic and enchanted items

I think it would be really refreshing for Odin to fight like this, hopefully his spear can do something other than just stab
@saorlathesurly8 ай бұрын
@@SephTheSin I believe his spear Gungnir in the myths is enchanted to always hit its mark if its been thrown, so I think I'd have it be an ever-present threat that keeps his foe needing to always be on the move, like a heat-seeking missile

My favorite thing about this fight is the fact that it wasn’t constantly back and forth. There was a clear winner who was in control the entire time. It didn’t make Lu Buu any less impressive, it just showed badass and powerful Thor truly is. It’s my biggest issue with apocalypse of the gods. Ra should be Cu’s superior in every way but having him hang with Ra and constantly come back from nearing death makes Ra feel less impressive. Anyways, fantastic video.

Thanks so much, and honestly a lot of it comes down to practice, I’ve been doing these kind of vids for years but I never used to be that good at trying to understand what an authors intending, I used to practise by finding scenes that resonated with me and just kept rereading them over and over till I worked out why they resonated 😅

@SephTheSin as a writer it's helped me immensely when it comes to thinking about stakes and what the fights mean to fighters. Your baki video especially was so enlightening to how long-term storytelling can only really be told by mastering the use on non verbal communication and themes. Your insight also helped me rediscover an old love of mine in wrestling entertainment, as I finally started to see fights and characters as more than plot point sticks, but real representations of problems and feelings that are instinctually human, and how good art imitates that humanity. Record of ragnorok is one of my favorite things for you to cover because of how good you are at explaining those parts of humanity and why they're relatable

I'd love to know what's his wife, his sons, and his daughter to his brother are doing? Funny enough, they say he's the strongest norse, yet you have his brother vidar, who's considered the strongest second to Thor because he killed fenrir.

The fights are so boring, these are the weakest gods I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong I love the series but its so grounded

I do think it is the weakest fight but it is still a good fight. What I loved about it was that you do actually get a sense that humanity is in danger. What was the name of the song you used in the background? I've looked everywhere for it

This one fight basically set the entire tone of the tournament. We were expecting a one sided slaughter. But we got a war instead. Guys we are in the climax. One fight left. Okita Souji vs Susanoo. Who will win? The prodigy police man whos life was cut short by tuberculosis? Or the legendary Storm God who slayed the mighty eight headed serpent. The arena is old Edo. This will be interesting.
@lordskull43828 ай бұрын
there is no way in hell Okita is losing, he's been hyped up for chapters and is very clearly one of the authors favorite's due to their history with the character but then again it would probably make more sense character wise for him to lose, regardless im hyped to see their ability's

Thor may as well be head gods level because the sky eater+gerroid thor’s hammer is the most destructive thing we’ve seen, what may hold Thor back is he fights like a turn base game.
