Thorens TD 125 MK II turntable

This great solid turntable has a Formula IV unipivot tone arm attached and a Shure Bros V15 Type IV cartridge. I have owned this turntable since about 1976 and have enjoyed many many happy hours listening to my favourite records

Thanks. I enjoyed making it. I just wanted a way to remember my 30 year experience of owning and using it. I somehow thought I'd have it for the rest of my life. Didn't work out that way

@@dontheoldradioguy7180 When you responded, I was in the process of driving back to my house with my first Thorens TD125 MkII, in its original box with all of its supporting documents and an SME 3009 S2 Improved tonearm (that Formula IV on yours is amazing!). My goal is to care for this one as well as you did for yours (and as well as the previous owner did for the one in my house now). Thank you, the appreciation you clearly have for this machine helped me move with confidence when buying this one.

I'm getting one in amazing condition next week. Has a SME 3009 tone arm. And an AKG P25MD/35 cartridge. I can't wait!

Inexpensive but tweaky arm but once setup correctly sounds very good with high compliance cartridges. Never use it with low compliance cartridges as it will rob them of their dynamics.

I have used that arm on a Ariston RD11S with a GAS Sleeping Beauty Super Elliptical mc cartridge and Verion SUT. Excellent sound! There were two versions of the Formula 4: JH (Australian) and Mayware (British). The difference : JH used a set of weights on the back to set tracking force, Mayware used a sliding weight on front for TF. Mine was the JH version, bought NIB for $140 in 1977. Used it for a while, to be replaced by a Keith Monks Unipivot Mercury arm (I should have kept the Formula 4 - the KM arm proved to be rather problematic in set up and use!).

I believe mine was the Australian one. It almost came to a tragic end during a move incident

is the chassis harder than in td160 etc?Mine td125 chassis seems quite hard in comparison to td16x....
