@@moriko07 Yeah, it even says so ON THE GATE. Narvi made the doors themselves and Celebrimbor did the enchanting. It was easy to guess the password be abuse that gate was meant to open easily to admit their elvish friends in Hollin.

I love bloopers like this. It's easy to forget with big franchises like LOTR or Star Wars that these larger than life actors are still human. And it's even better if you picture the blooper being canon to the story. I just picture the other dwarves staring at Thorin while he's fumbling around with the key until Balin just screams "WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S STUCK?!"

Something people seem to have forgotten is that TLOTR cut out at least 2 or 3 times as much as the Hobbit ever did. The Hobbit films were as good as one can do adapting a children's book into an action-adventure trilogy to fit the precedent set before it. Most people who've watched TLOTR movies couldn't tell you who Tom Bombadil is, so the Hobbit shouldn't get the flak it got.

Of course a 300 page childrens book spread over three movies is going to cut less then 3 400 or so page epics turned into three corresponding movies. And cutting or changing for adaptation isnt inherently wrong. Tom bombadil is a neat character, a nice addition to a long book. But movies dont have as much time to tell their story and to be frank including tom bombadil isnt necessary to the story at all. Cutting stuff like tom was a good decision

@@joeb8935 I agree with your point, TLOTR is way bigger than the Hobbit was so of course stuff had to be cut out, but it sort of misses the point I was making. People, at least where I live, overreacted to things being cut from the Hobbit, but not really TLOTR. Tom had about as much plot value as the Dwarves crossing the river or interrupting the elves in Mirkwood. One thing we can all agree sucked was the shoehorned in love subplot. That went nowhere and did nothing
