What do you mean “physics”?
@tanyatheendergirl89872 жыл бұрын
@@RatchetandSly at the cost of sounding incoherent, I believe the physics were off, as in the original story Dáin chopped off Azog's head and here in one point Thorin just threw Azog's flail back at him to make him sink under the ice. So let's get this straight. It takes multiple high impact hits with a roughly 150-200lb stone mace to begin chipping the ice enough that it starts to break. Yet, an orc being overcome with hypothermia and floating horizontally, somehow has enough kinetic energy instantly built up in a non-existent swim to not only break the ice, but shatter it and launch three feet into the air. Where did all this energy come from?

@christopherlyons59006 ай бұрын
Yeah. I mean, I could see him letting go of the giant rock that makes no sense as a dueling weapon against a smaller faster opponent--on a frozen lake--but he could have let that go. But then he floats under the ice--then leaps up out of the water, through the ice, perfectly balanced on his feet, like an Olympic gymnast--and given his bulk, and the armor--it's full-on videogame b.s. What bugs me, aside from the fact that nothing in the battle makes any sense, is that Thorin's solution to beating him, however illogical, was pretty neat--and they ruined it. I get he had to die--since he did in the original story. Not like this. There was so much unnecessary garbage in this trilogy--532 minutes in the extended edition--over eight hours--to adapt a 310 page book! MoneyMoneyMoney. All Jackson ever thinks about.

What if, 2:27-4:49 is actually all a hallucination from his sickness, and what if Thorin actually died from battle injuries sustained earlier, Azog could have easily drowned, but in Thorin’s mind, he was still fighting azog, Thorin holding back Azog with his sword is symbolism for Thorin fighting and wanting to live, but when he lets Azog stab him, he has finally overcome the sickness and accepted his fate Notice how no one notices that Azog is dead, maybe because his body is nowhere to be found, or ..... still in the water

If they had just committed to Azog drowning instead of cheaply coming back alive, this would've been the coolest most fitting death for a powerful unstoppable force. Just have Thorin suffer a fatal wound right before the Eagles show up and then have the mighty Azog the Defiler pathetically drown. I dunno bout y'all but i think that would've been so fitting.
@riproar118 ай бұрын
I agree, but not a fatal wound, but a debilitating one to where Thorin becomes helpless while kneeling on the ice and Azog taking his time to walk up to him while gloating about his "celebrated-too-early" victory.

My ballpark estimate of that stone's weight is around 325 kg (0.5m side x 2.6 granite density). What Azog does with this weight is of course pretty amazing although somewhat expected considering his height, weight and overall physique. I'm more impressed with the casual lift and toss of the stone by Thorin, who as a dwarf should be around 1.25m and 50kg even if built like Shwarzenegger in his prime and scaled down proportionally. We are in the realm of insect-like strength here.

Ok, I cant be the only person to notice this, at 2:00 when Thorin tosses the boulder thing at Azog, the ice doesn't start tipping til Thorin steps off... I have only one question... HOW MUCH DOES THORIN WEIGH?!?! Azog is like 7 ft tall, how can they weigh roughly the same, in addition to a giant boulder?
@bilalcakir57503 жыл бұрын
Ever studied levers, weight and fulcrum point in high school years? Thorin was at the edge of the ice and azog was close to the centre, hence the ice piece is in balance. the second Thorins weight was lifted off, it sets the lever off balance. The further away from the fulcrum point, the less the weight needed to keep the lever (ice piece) in balance.
