Nice to see a bit of old film of the now demolished Thornaby Depot. I notice the two NYMR class 25 locos D5032 and D7541 were there on display complete with their nameplates applied in preservation. Helen Turner named for the daughter of the scrap yard owner where the first mainline diesel loco in preserved railway duty was obtained from and Sybilla named for the mother of the NYMR's benefactor and owner of the loco and the lines pull an cars and several other coaches. Both locos went on to do sterling service both on passenger trains and for winter PWay duties. Happy memories of days working with both of them!

Fantastic! I was there at this event and I remember it fondly as one of the best days out I'd had as a child. Great stuff.

A great video of the BR at its best. Hard to imagine a TOC / FOC organising such an open day. Also historic because Thornaby depot no longer exists, believe it's been cleared to be re developed for housing.

Makes you sad to know it's all but gone! Disgraceful.
