Now there's dedication with the photographer being out there in the snow. The snow certainly gives a different perspective.

Thanks for this footage from Porter! I grew up in MIchigan City and remember visiting the Porter tower at least once. I was interested in Porter because the former NYC (MIchigan Central) and C&O (Pere Marquette) lines coming into Porter both went through Michigan City. If I remember correctly, in the early 20th century the Michigan Central crossed over the NYC at Porter and continued on to Kensington where it met the IC, not far from where the South Shore joins in. A leftover from this was that the James Whitcome Riley from Cincy to Chicago went to IC's Central Station instead of La Salle Street until Amtrak took over (but I don't think by the original MC route).
@ThornappleRiverRailSeries2 жыл бұрын
Correct, the MC passed on around to Kensington - one of the tracks is still there, operated by the IHB to get to a scrap yard. Once the MC was absorbed by the NYC, it was of course only a matter of time before the shorter Waterlevel Route became the standard for trains out of Michigan, and also routing most of the freight from Detroit off the MC and onto the Waterlevel.

I can't believe you were able to shoot these engines, every time I get near a train with the camera, the cop show up. Everyone is so uptight these days.
@Juptak2 жыл бұрын
Why do some engines have blinking lights and others don't?

I just discovered your channel I absolutely love it. I am, however, dismayed by the complete carpetbombing of ads throughout the videos. An ad every 90 seconds to 3 minutes is not enjoyable.
