Thorpe Park Shark Cabins, a 1* review. No sleep, noisy, poor tiny room & overpriced. A real shame!!

What Thorpe park needs is a proper hotel there like Chessington or Alton towers have got because them cabins are well themed but very small

We stayed here last September and were quite impressed. For the two of us it was very cosy and just what we wanted. The cost wasn't bad considering its not much more than a premier inn. I was chatting to one of the staff when I was on a tour and was told that if there is water leaking in to the room they can replace the seal at the bottom of the door. I would have rated them 4/5 and would like to stay there again. The noise wasn't bad for us and I have had more noise issues with Premier inn. I believe the green light is to indicate the emergency lighting. I do think you need to think about what you want and need when booking accommodation as we all have different needs and requirements.

Everyone has a different experience, my expectations are always very basic in all the theme park hotels we stay at, the least you should be able to do is sleep, I think my points have been honest and reasonable. I consider things carefully but the fact is.....this is the first truly bad hotel experience at a theme park hotel! My alton towers hotel video was the total opposite experience

Ive always quite enjoyed the Shark, but im also someone who sleeps better with noise. I dont mind the noise as it helps me sleep, but I can understand it can get super annoying. I will say the top floor is a lot more noticeable than the bottom. You can feel the footsteps outside on the top floor.

Yeah I remember saying that on my original tour video that I didn't publish after what happened, I had to lighten my steps as walking at a moderate pace made quite the noise 😂

I was in one of these cabins on Hyperia Opening day. The only noise I could here were 2 people arguing outside the cabin. Which went on for about an hour. I didn't have a poor experience however one of my mates did. There Teenagers running around on his side at 2 in the morning!

Coming down from Manchester I weighed up between stopping at TP or CWOA last month. After asking for recommendations on the Facebook MAP pages I opted for Chessington. I am so glad I did as I loved every minute of it. We returned for a second stay 2 nights ago and will be returning again in June for 3 nights so we can enjoy Hyperia. If money or transport is a issue, they the cabins seem alright, however for an extra £20ish per night, Chessington offers more comfort and enjoyable experience. Love the video, keep them going and good luck. I have subscribed.

Honestly, by the sounds it, you had your expectations way too high. Thorpe park never tried to make it deluxe hotel, rather just somewhere to sleep for the next day. For the premium rooms, the price is higher due to the fact that you get fast track for the ride, for example if I pick a Swarm room, I will get fast track for the ride all day , (I’m not sure if it’s for one day, or for both) but that explains why the room is a bit more expensive compared to the others. Thanks for the comment but I have to disagree, my definition of a "good hotel" at a theme park is just somewhere after a long day I can just go to sleep and I was clear in my vlog with that fact, I didn't sleep and my 2nd day suffered as a result! Ironically, I was at a comic con today and the security guard while I queued was an ex merlin employee and he described the sharke cabins as "f*****g s**t", I think I was abit freindlier then that, I think my review was honest but MY experience, everyone is different and different experiences occur. Please consider subbing, lots of content to come and it is positive......promise 🤣

i like the cabins, its nice and cosy, the perks are quite good for the price as well, but the paper thin walls are not on. i love that room but its so loud and you can hear kids screaming early in the morning / late in the night. i have stayed in the hotel once every year for the past 2 years and am planning to do it this year.the staff are helpful and when i talked to them about the noise they was super supportive.

Thanks for the comment, there are pros and cons, to me I would rather have a peaceful sleep then perks and extras, but everyone has different experiences and maybe I was unlucky this time, that's why I like vlogs so we can share our different experiences and try to inform and entertain 😊

I know this hotel or cabin is temporary. I think in a year or two they will take it down and build a proper hotel. It's in their long term plans

I’m staying in the cabins in the next week. I stayed quite a few years ago and it was the best night sleep I ever had. Will be interesting to see how it differs. I would rather skip fast tracks and just have a better quality room/experience. Tbh alton towers hotel is no different re noise.

@@NotThatMedia Ref your comment about hotel costs. It just depends on the time you go. I paid £170 to stay in the stealth themed cabin, which is only £10 more than what you paid for the basic room.

Of course, costs will dip and fluctuate and that's part of planning. To me it was more the fact that £159 is alot of money these days and even taking away the £60 for 2 tickets, that's still a £100 room with so many issues, I just want to be open about my experience, I want people to enjoy themselves, I just would hate to do a "isn't it great" video and someone take the jump and book only to have a similar experience, im not here to hate or trash for likes and subs, but I want to tell the truth. It was a disappointment after alton towers- both part of merlin so would hope there was continuity in standards 😊

At the time I booked the basic cabin was £20 cheaper than the stealth cabin so I just thought - why not as I get a view of Thorpe park which is what I wanted. Your review has told me to take ear plugs just incase lol In addition I think most Merlin parks are over priced. As I said the alton towers hotel is very noisy at times. I went during opening weekend and it was frustrating. I’m surprised you enjoyed the hotel at alton towers. The last 2 times I’ve been it’s been frustratingly noisy.

The hyperia room (as far as I know) is the latest facelifted room so whilst the size/layout might be almost the same (just theming different), I would like to think its not got all the issues (I saw a decent coffee machine in the adverts and the shower door looked more sturdy) I have a video due to land at 5pm today about my complaint follow up and the green light is addressed in it so that might help! Everyone has different experiences and based on the comments, its a bit of a mixed bag so don't take my experience as definitive, I could have just been very unlucky! Don't quote me but I did read on a FB group in the last day or so that if you stay in the "ride themed" room, your given a fast track all day for that particular ride - maybe give them a call and double check as ive seen reports that fast track for hyperia is to be very limited and £20 per person, so you might be in a fortunate position and save a lot of time and money! Let me know if that's right or not as would be good for others to know! Please do subscribe for lots of future content!

The booking states that each guest (myself and wife) get a Hyperia bolt on which I believe is a fancy name for fast track, plus unlimited fast track on any other single coaster on the second day. The green light would annoy the hell out of me, so hopefully I can cover that up!

10 minutes minimum moaning about the noise. Fml, we get the picture... It was annoying. Yes it was a tuesday but people class it as a mini holiday so it is what it is. I'm an early sleeper and ive stayed next to some noisy neighbours before now but what can you do? Get some earplugs and get on with it.

I think you are missing the point.... or didn't listen. My main issue was the SLAMMING of the doors that had no sound proofing, insulation or protection. I also talked about the green light- something thorpe park has recognised as an issue and was already correcting. I talked about many factors, not just noisy neighbours, I lived under and above noise neighbours in a town centre for 15 years so I'm used to noise but this was on another level! I really do appreciate the watch and you taking the time to comment but when you click on a 1 star review of MY experience... what do you expect? Many shared my view and experience, many didn't, that's all part of the great thing of vlogging, I'm sure if you watch the others you will see my aim is to be positive but I'm not going to lie...... I will sum it up as I did on the video - when there's sound proof toilet seats but no sound proofing on the metal door..... something has gone wrong... Thanks for the comment 👍

MY point was you rambled on for like 12 minutes over the bloody door slamming, repeating yourself over and over when you could have just said it and moved on to the next point. I watched your video because I genuinely wanted to know if it was worth staying and what problems people have but listening to you harp on about the bloody noise was probably just as annoying as the noise itself. You'd be furious if it wasn't for the breakfast? I mean give over, it was £80, what were you expecting?

Thanks for your comment but I'm not going to engage in an argument. The video is three months old and was filmed in the infancy of my channel, today I probably would have kept it to 15 minutes. I offered an honest review after I had 2 hours sleep after a full day in a park after a three hour drive. Having spent the same to stay at alton towers (both under merlin), I had a fantastic time there so would naturally assume the same again. It didn't make the video but even the breakfast staff remarked to guests that the rooms are bad. I think you misheard me, my comment on the breakfast was that had it not been so good, I would have been very angry. I also had a ironic situation at the Coventry comic con when speaking to a security guy in line who was recently made redundant by thorpe park, when he asked about my content and I mentioned thorpe park, with no provocation he said "you stay in the Cabins?...s@%t aren't they?". So whilst I take on your feedback about repetition in my video, I am clearly not alone I've stayed in Premier inns for £40 and had a better experience. Thanks again!

Bruh, you should have seen how spacious the room was before paying. It's like the rooms people in China would live in. Thorpe does not take criticism to heart. Angry Birds was so outdated that it took them over ten years to get rid of it. (They only got rid of it because the license expired.) Like Depth Charge, it's rubbish and outdated, and there are no plans to scrap it. Prices nowadays-you pay more for less. It's bollocks. Read the reviews; if it's not at least four to five stars, don't bother. Alton Towers works fast; my local Thorpe Park takes decades to do the most simplistic things. As for the storage containers, they have a deep fascination with them. Even last year's scare attraction had one, and it was awful.

The fast track would have come in handy if you’d not visited on an off peak day, sounds like you were lucky with low crowd level

100% agree, peak time or holiday periods, that hour of fast track is invaluable. The Wednesday (which most of my upcoming park vlog was filmed on) was alot busier, not bad and wait times remained 5-10 minutes if not a walk on. In the first hour were very casual with our direction and still did 3 big ticket rides so it was a nice addition but not essential. Don't get me wrong, the fast track is welcome but I wouldn't stay there to get that, I would rather pay for fast track duing the day and would be cheaper then the room! But tbf, of the days at alton towers and thrope park we have done, never needed it! Thanks for commenting, please consider subscribing for future theme park and more content!

Not true, I was very clear in the video that I was not expecting a hotel experience. The expectation is a place to put your head down after a day in the theme park. This place (for me), failed. I can only assume you didn't watch the whole video but you assumption on my disappointment is wrong. I've had better night's sleep in a tent at a festival compared to that room.

Like I say, my experience is not the definitive one. People have good, people have bad. I had a bad experience. This is the point of vlogging. I'm not going to lie. If a themepark offers a sleep/hotel experience I will do it, vlogging or not. My review was an honest one, I'm not going to lie, have someone watch my video, pay alot of money and have the same bad experience....
