No way! I thought this documentary was gone forever, the only tape of it having been erased long ago by NBC. At least, that is what I remember reading in Terry Waldo's book, "This is Ragtime!" (original 1976 edition). So glad it was since found! (Now I have new hope that we will find Joplin's "A Guest of Honour" opera!) Thank you for the upload! So glad I could see so many demos of popular dances & songs of the day to help put everything into perspective.

Have to hit the hay, but I can't wait to watch this tomorrow, hopefully! Always.want to play ragtime but never could find a teacher past the simple basics. And couldn't figure it out by myself.

You have to play ragtime, first, very slow, and one hand at a time....when you get your left hand down really good, THEN start the right hand all by it self, until you get your right hand down cold. Then slowly play both hands very slow, then speed up gradually, and before you know it, your muscle memory in your hands will allow you to play Ragtime!! I started off by playing "The Entertainer" then "The Maple Leaf Rag". Of course I studied with a professional jazz/popular music professor in college, and for the time around 1972/3...he charged a pretty penny;-)...think I was paying 15 dollars for a half hour lesson. That might be akin to 30 dollars or more in todays money, maybe more. Good Luck!!

According to some calculation using our friends ragtimers works, the number of duly déposes scores exceed probably 2000 units. At the samedi time, France ignored this music totally

No one ever mentions the Godfather of ragtime Louis Moreau Gottschalk. His songs predate these guys by 40-50 years. Listen to Pasquinade & La Galina.....
