This brings me back to the good old times of Christmas Day 1969 in Equatorial Guinea. I was dressed up as Santa Claus and we were giving Christmas presents in the Stadium to 150 political prisoners it was wholesome seeing them smile and cry. Boy those were the days.

My memories are still available. I think I'm younger than my joints allow. I believe I'm stronger than my grip grabs. I know I'm smarter than I look. Aging humbles us all. No egos allowed. No degree will save you from the effects of what we've all put into our bodies over the years in the ignorance and trust of self preservation or amusement and relaxation. Almost all of us succumb to the harsh reality of time. Why don't we live as long as trees? Because we trusted society to be fair, honest, and reliable. Hope sustains us all now. Hope in our Savior's Son, Jesus.

Can't explain just why but today I got an urge to know who had written this song, thinking perhaps one of the Beatles or someone like that. So I Googled it and what I learned surprised me. This song is in fact an English tramslation of a Russian folk song ( which maybe explains why it has such a nostalgic air about it. ) Music is by Boris Famin and lyrics by Eugene Raskin. And not a lot of people know that ! 🙂
