My ancestors came from Ireland, England and Wales approximately 170 years ago to the east coast United States. We all look Irish and English, all these generations later.

Hi Dom and Lia. Thanks, so much for visiting my home City, Coventry and St. Mary's guildhall. During the 1460s, Coventry, during the War of the roses, essentially was the Lancastrian capital of England. It was a walled city and supported the Lancastrian claim, so Henry Vi, made it his capital for around 3 years. I know that's amazing to believe but it's true! Birmingham was just a collection of small villages at this time. Coventry from the 14th to the early 16th Century was an important centre of the wool trade and one of the most important medieval centres in England. Love your content. Hope you are both doing good.

The nice thing about Guild Halls is that it belonged to the artists and craftspeople. So, the decorative elements are over the top: decorative woodwork, glass glazing, etc.

All I know about Coventry is the saying, "Sent to Coventry. " With the Lady Godiva story, I'm pretty sure that's where the term "Peeping Tom" came from. When she rode naked through the town, all the populace loving and respecting her, didn't look, except one man named Tom!

I just noticed that the other Those Two Brits channel doesn't feature any other channels and I thought this one and Joel & Lia's solo channels would be in there too to let people know of them? Anyways, I love these videos. Seeing old architecture always has me in awe at the care and character they used to have in the older buildings. Even in ruins, the "bones" of the building make you wonder how grand it must have been when it was new and complete. Now, new buildings are just bland, overpriced, and do not have the best quality materials. At the end of the video when you had tea and coffee I spotted some women behind Joel that had one of those fancy plate tiers with treats on them. Might be nice to do a little brunch there sometime.

Coventry was the Capital city til 1459, dates back to the 11th Century, Cov was the main car industry hub/manufacturer in the UK, was the 4th most powerful City in the UK, home of the jet engine, the surviving gatehouse is the oldest building in the UK used as a register office, Lady Godiva begged Leofric to stop heavy taxes on Coventrian's, Earl Leofric agreed if she rode naked through the streets, the citizens stayed in doors, Tom however peeped, hence "peeping Tom", So much history is found around in Cov, Medieval Spon st, Cathedral, Greyfriars, town wall, too much to list, the home of UK SKA music, the specials, Ghost town was about Coventry, the only City with x3 Cathedrals, "We speak with an accent exceedingly rare, If you want a Cathedral we've got one to spare, in our Coventry homes" Bombed by the Germans on 14/15th Nov 1940 (the blitz) so not an important major City hey? Great video guys, born and bred in Cov, and proud.

If you were actually from Coventry, you'd know of these places. Nah, most of the events for City of culture were online... and in 2021, they didn't gather momentum as we were emerging from the pandemic response. I made it to 5mins...

Certainly you saw graffiti from the 1600s and 1700s, but the 1500s? One thinks not. Will did not die until 1616 so I doubt the relatives living in the house in the 1500s carved the joint up. They were not the type.

Jesus died for you, was buried and rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Please repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior
