Those are good thoughts - of course it is good to be virtuous - but in a way his thoughts are very self-centered - all about the spiritual achievement one can accomplish in one's self. If that is our main concern, then we will be very disappointed when we get to Heaven and find many people far more virtuous than ourselves. Perhaps out attitude should simply be: "Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner." An attitude that Christ commended.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, for sure, everyone needs God's mercy. I don't think Christostom always talks about self. Many of his writings are about encouraging us to help others and care for their needs. I find looking at the various groups and individuals that we tend to find our niche. Some emphasize unity, others healing, some personal growth, others forgiveness or evangelism or word studies, etc. I think we need to remember all of those things and bring them together in our own applications. As Tom used to say, 'moderation in everything is good.' (Except evil of course.)😇
