Since I’ve starting working there about 2 1/2 years ago I’ve seen probably about a dozen of them with the same issue. BMW designs those motors with not much room for adjustment of the fuel mapping. Stock power output is almost at the limit the motor can reasonably take and the BT just advances the ignition timing way too much to squeeze as much power out of it as possible. I've owned mine since the beginning of 2023, spent over $30,000 with the bike and mods and I have had ZERO issues. The water pump is a well known issue in the new generations and BMW also covers it under warranty. Sorry you had a "bad" experience with the S1K but that does not mean every S1K has the same problems as yours. It's not BMW's fault their dealership doesn't store the S1K inside, that is a dealership problem because I know my dealership stores mine inside. I've done warranty work with Aprilia and BMW. These bikes are built to such extremes (200mph rockets that makes 200+hp out of 1 liter, you're going to have a few bikes that have issues.). If it is a critical component that doesn't allow you to ride, the manufacturer will do whatever they can to get you the parts needed and the bike fixed. This bike had a MINOR coolant leak. My friends rode thousands of miles on the same issue. It's rare but a few bikes get it and the slight leak typically only happens at WOT pulls.. The BMW dealer offered to let him continue to ride it while they wait for parts or find a slot of time to fix the bike (shocker, dealers aren't waiting patiently for work, they are usually pretty backed up for a while.) However, this dude thinks he is above everyone else. He made the choice to let his bike sit at the dealer when they offered to let him ride it while they wait for parts / a good time to fix the bike. It's like he intentionally wanted to leave it there because he knew it would take a long time. Regardless, he isn't gonna get shit. This dealership is very well known for doing fantastic work. Just another entitled kid using 20% of his brain cells. Hate people who claim "Lawyer" mode as if it's some big scary thing.

Your experience is valid and I think it's fair that you are choosing to not buy another one. However tons of people have K67 S1000RRs and don't have issues. It sounds like you got a lemon which happens. I have a 2023 RR with BT Stage 2, sprint filter, full exhaust and it's been near perfect. I did have one issue with the quick shifter changing from 5-6 at full throttle but that was because my clutch lever was too loose from the dealer. As far the S1000 water pumps, I've seen a failure on the old gen model too. I replaced one for a friend that was leaking a small amount with less than 10k on his 2018 S1000R. I have a 2016 S1000XR which uses the same part with 34K with the same pump. Some of them fail others don't. My quick shifter sensor on my XR has seized so I ordered another one too. They're not perfect but overall they're great bikes IMO. People venerate Japanese bikes all the time but ignore when shit breaks, dealer markups, shitty brakes, etc. My friend bought a brand new ZX6R and it had a check engine light on the way home. He took it to the dealer he bought it from and it turned out to be the exhaust valve and they didn't fix it. He said it rode fine so we ended up pulling the cables off of the flap. Also have you ever sat on a ZX10? They are way more cramped compared to any S1K or V4 and the ZX10 weighs a good amount more than an S1K. Many of them still have rubber brake hoses too. I don't say this saying that they are bad bikes but they overhyped in my opinion.

Depends upon the dealer+service dept+mechanics; not BMW. With all the models BMW has now, it probably requires 10 years for a mechanic to become intimately familiar with most of them. You don't need all those mods. People don't appreciate how much work mechanics do for the money. In most cases, good mechanics are too valuable for the pay/hours ratio. If you wanted top quality mechanics+service, you'd probably have to pay double. It would be hard to find a mechanic that will agree that the corporate hour estimations for the various types of services benefit highly skilled work with integrity. They always estimate ideal conditions that don't exist in reality which means short cuts or lower profits. Also, you need to keep in mind that motorcycles are a seasonal business in temperate climates, and a shop can't just hire people for the summer and fire them in the winter. Old school bikers generally had to be pro mechanics themselves and their bike was a reflection of their own skills.

@shauns52784 ай бұрын
@@Cobradaddy The ZX only lacks mid-range without a flash. It's the common 5K~ dead zone a lot of bikes have now to cheat Euro emissions and noise tests. Also the ZX while not being Ohlins it has extremely beefy suspension with external nitrogen chambers which I can't think of another liter bike possessing. Also for 2024 the S1K went up in price. The ZX-10R is only $17,799 or $18,799 for ABS and comes with Cruise Control as well as a full titanium exhaust system including headers with heated grips being a $450 option. Base S1KRR is $18,990 and comes standard with ABS however does not have Cruise control or heated grips which is an extra $2,690 in the Premium package and cannot be added separately if you want the Titanium exhaust that's another $1,700 on top of the Premium package. So to get an S1K comparable to the ZX-10R it's actually $23,380 and while it does get electronic damping it's for an arguably lower quality suspension.

I totally disagree with you regarding the S1K. I have one and I've never had an issue with it. That's the same dealership that 650IB and he swears by is.... Just a little advice. When pumping gas, you should always dismount your bike.

Same dealership that 650ib goes too. When I seen Zack I was like no way 😮two different experiences. I work at a dealership in service and sometimes shit just doesn’t go as plan. Then waiting on parts and getting it back in the techs schedule can be a week or 2. I’d stick to big dealerships rather than mom and pop shops. Zack is a hella good technician thougg

He dropped his bike off over 30 days before the scheduled service date. Dealerships have 30 days to fix the problem from scheduled service date .. service was booked up hence why he was scheduled at the next open availability. Still he dropped it off early. Bike went to the bench on the day of the scheduled service and fixed.

Matt you made a EXCELLENT point about the S1K being a glorified ZX10, but you forget about all the internet clout bois that want a BMW and completely over look the better options in the R1,ZX10,V4, and even the GSXR1k. There are better options for a lot less. I bought my R1 two weeks ago and love it so far (it’s my first bike) and yes I can handle it. I test rode a V4 and S1K alongside it and the only reason I didn’t buy the V4 was because the Texas heat + Ducati would kill me. Don’t buy a German bike. Buy Italian or Japanese.

I’ve stuck to Kawasaki and Yamaha the last 12 years since I’ve been riding; no issues so far. 🎉 Though I ride with folks who love their Ducatis and BMWs. I think it’s just a gamble sometimes like with cars, your gonna have some with issues and some people that never see problems. Sorry you’re going through this.

Also her saying the water pump is a "non critical issue" is insane. If that BMW gets hardly any hotter is when you run into overheating and ENGINE DAMAGE.

I am going through the water pump issue as well, and the PNW rep for bmw will not fix it even though it's under warranty. It is leaking so much coolant that I am afraid of it getting on the back tire, which could cause me to crash. Maybe a lawsuit might make them fix it.

Yeah I had problems with the 2022 , overheating from the 1st month engine control issues..but upgraded to the 2023 -24 S1000RR , not a problem.. been running far better, gravelly , box of nails sound of the 2022 eliminated, engine vibration is less but still noticeable.. Not as smooth as Honda Fireblade, but is more ridable than the Honda.

Unfortunate experience. I purchased a brand new RSV4 1100 and the rad leaked on me at 3,200 km, which is 2,000 miles. Aprilia is worse because parts take forever and their dealer network is not vast at all. I traded it in for a KTM and im much happier.

The audacity of the dealer to say that it wasn't a "critical issue".... are you kidding me!? First of all.... it's a brand NEW bike..... it shouldn't be leaking anything from anywhere PERIOD! But okay, let's play along.... when WOULD it have been a "critical issue"!? After it leaked enough coolant to get on your rear tire causing you to crash!? When it leaked enough for the engine to overheat and seize!? Jesus christ....i can't lie, I've been on the fence between the new S1000RR and the new RSV 1100 Factory. I have a k46 S1KRR that I've had since 2018 with zero issues and i absolutely love. Part of why i was liking the new BMW, but this video right here, along with others that I've seen had made my mind up for me.... stay safe man, hopefully no more k67 gremlins rear their ugly head for you

Anyone who buys a new product with their hard earned money, whether it costs a dollar or $30,000, deserves to get that product in excellent condition. Dealerships should stop normalizing belittling customers for bringing up factory defects in their products and should stop getting upset when customers point out these defects.

On the other hand I owned a 2018 Panigale V4. That bike was constantly in the shop! And I disagree you can get the same exact bike for cheaper that does the same exact thing. The S1K is the best bike on the market and no other bike comes close when it comes to low end and high power, comfort, creature comforts and electronics.

Within a month waterpump leaked again and eurocycle of las vegas refused to fix it. Bmw has 3yr warranty and they do not honor that 😡🤬🤯. my s1000rr has been in a bmw shop for OVER 3 WEEKS for a fuel issue that they still haven't been able to fix and they think their "service" is worth $209 an hour. Idk why but they cant just spend a whole day to fix it if that's what it needs. They work on it for an hour and then text me "we looked at it" and we will work on it again in week maybe like wtf. Why does it seem like BMW dealers have 5+ sales people and 1 mechanic
@Caronte41163 ай бұрын
Well, not trying to defend it, but seams pretty reasonable having more people on sales than mechanics, since there's more difficult to do one sale than one service (most are done in 1h or so). My experience is the same guy in sales, was also the chief mechanic and an amateur rider 🤣

@ 13:14 , I'm listening to you but my opinion of the BMW moto, is different. I have a '23 XR, and trust me, I "go hard" every time I ride the thing. It's a fast, fun, comfortable sport bike. I ride it almost EVERY day, while my ZX-10 RR sits on the trickle charger, collecting & housing garage spiders. It's a nice bike too, but imo, the XR does everything the X-10 does, but better. @@zachroy2684 To be fair it sounds like you have a very mild tune which is all you should really do to the K67. People who are having blown engines and other failures are doing very aggressive Stage 1's such as BrenTune or Stage 2+ which the K67 really can't handle. Also MotoMillion were idiots with theirs literally doing a Stage 2 flash and aggressive Dyno run before it even had its first break-in service. Which is why BMW refused to work with them, which they loved to gloss over in all their videos.

Its basically a hit or miss with these Italian/German motorcycles. You'll be lucky if you get a new one, with absolutely no issues. I had my Ninja H2, since 2017. That motorcycle gives no issues at all. And yes, Japanese Motorcycles have a much higher reliability rate, than other brands.
