Lots of great ideas! When I was first diagnosed and feeling so stressed out, I so appreciated people who brought meals. I didn't always want to eat, but my husband and daughter did! Thank goodness we had good insurance and we paid nearly nothing for surgery and treatment.

Thanks for this! You've shared a bunch of helpful ideas for gift giving. A few other suggestions... if you're close to the person (or related to them) and they have children, offer to take them for the day and do something fun. Also, making dinners for the freezer might provide homemade meals for other family members. But your best idea was cash or gift cards. That is always appreciated.
