I love sapphires too, and they're also my birthstone. One thing I've realized as I get older is I tend to want something more subtle, so I've really been gravitating toward the lighter color sapphires and lighter blue gemstones in general.

Gorgeous setting. Love the contrast! I have a princess cut yellow diamond and I love it, but I do find that it loses it’s apparent sparkle more quickly than my brilliant cut stones. When it’s newly polished it has SO much fire, but otherwise it can look a bit foggy.

I love the princess cut! Maybe because I've had one on my finger for almost 30 years now. I've always preferred diamonds that aren't round. I just think that the more square shapes look best on my hand. The ring in the video is quite lovely.

When I got married for the first time, I had a princess cut diamond. This was in 2005. The marriage lasted less than 2 years (please, please live with someone before you marry them- as you never know who someone REALLY is until you live with them!) In 2009, I got married again and have a round cut diamond. And I agree- princess cut was all the rage back in the early 2000s, but I rarely see them anymore. It's like they were in and out in less time than my first marriage lasted!

I have always preferred princess, cushion, kite, and oval cut stones. I think it makes the overall piece something a little extra special. My spouse and I just ordered a replacement wedding set from an independent creator in etsy, and it's got a princess cut stone set on the bias, which I think is really striking. Beautiful ring in that setting. Princess cut seems to be a love it or leave it diamond shape. It’s not my personal fave for an engagement ring though I do see the appeal because the princess cut appears bigger to the eye than a round diamond of the same weight.
