Thoughts on The Flash (2023)

The Flash is a jumbling mess of a delayed superhero film, overblown with awful CGI, a terrible script, unfunny humour, and a crushingly irritating performance from its troubled star Ezra Miller, with the only saving grace being Michael Keaton's triumphant return as Batman and Sasha Calle's ultimately pointless presence in a now-cancelled franchise relaunch.

If you don’t like the garbage cranked out, write and make your own, for example: The main character, Dr. Fixit, materialized his police box in a public park. When he and his companion leave the police box to get some food, teenagers as a prank switch the “Men” sign from the public restroom and the “Police Box” sign. At half-time, a football team at the park pours into the device. Inside, the men spread out and one says, “This must be a self-cleaning restroom, I saw it on a show about future technology. Let’s flip some of these buttons and see it work.” At this point, Dr. Fixit and his companion returning from the fast food restaurant see men pouring into the device. His companion says, “Isn’t that dangerous?” Dr. Fixit, as he searches his pockets, responds, “It can’t be operated without the key,” Then comes up empty handed and says, “The key.” At this point the police box demitirializes. Dr. Fixit says, “Oh Fuck. We are screwed.”

It was all the above that why the film failed but I cannot deny it was better than I was expecting but still pretty bad. Ignoring Keaton Batman, I think the large amount of cameos was the only excitement it offered including Clooney which was a surprise me as well.

Astile I must ask you to please watch Synecdoche, New York. I see you've given 5 stars to nearly everything else in the Charlie Kaufman universe and I feel like this film particularly as well as Anomalisa are his best writing. Would love to hear what you think of it

i just watched the movie and i completely agree with you , the movie was so bad and boring, cgi was terrible and the plot of the movie was garbage. I'm fan of dc but omg these movies don't do them justice at all. I have to believe that those rotten tomatoes reviews are fake .There's no way people think that was good.

Leave it to the people who created comics multiverses to royally fuck it up. Every scene you think would have been in the film was probably shot. I think this film has set the record for reshoots and in the end, they just said "fuck it" because they were abandoning it anyway and picked the combination of scenes that sucked the hardest. Just to make you appreciate what James Gunn is going to do that much more. And it had better be spectacular because anything less will be a failure. This film is total clusterfuck. Ive been calling for the video release to include every scene shot PLUS the BATGIRL film along with an editing app so you can make your own version. Given the whole multiverse thing, that would be a brilliant piece of marketing.

I think you are being way too hard on this movie. It is not a great movie, and I do agree Ezra Miller can be annoying, but it has it's bright spots too. This movie is destined to become some kind of drinking game on college campuses. The movie is expected to lose the studio around 200 million dollars so you can find your joy in that.

I agree. It'll be a great drinking game for college boys and girls. I find great pleasure in its failure. It just upset me because it really, really was bad in my eyes. We deserve better as an audience. I love the character The Flash, and Ezra ruins him. I like Michael Keaton's Batman, but he deserved a better return. Hopefully, this will be forgotten in a hundred years
