I loved this book! The characters were beautifully written and felt real, the pace for me was perfect because even though it is slow it is so filled with details you really connect to the story. 100% recommended

I just started it and I'm struggling a bit. It's definitely much slower than what I'm used to with her. I hope I'll get into it eventually. I'm also stuck on the stupidest detail, but there's no way Addie can spend a whole night with someone without losing their sight. Someone has to use the bathroom at some point! :p

@@nafssbou6803 No, the point is that it's harder to enjoy a story when important details (such as the rules of Addie's curse, which are constantly hammered) don't feel well thought out. And it tends to go with not clicking with the writing, otherwise it's easier to brush off.

It's a fantasy fiction story. I don't want to read every single detail. Do you really want her trips to the bathroom included? Use your imagination...

@@dannagraves7131 the OP's right though. I'm reading the book right now, but it's quite important to understand that. I had this thought too and kept wondering.

I just finished the book and I loved it. Kinda slow in the middle but still entertaining. Beautifully written. Poetic at times. But I loved loved loved the relationship with Luc. I need someone to talk to about it.

I cried so much reading this- especially in the end. But that last chapter made me smile and I loved every minute I spent reading this. So poetic, so real, and it just makes me realize that life truly is short and makes me appreciate the little things more. Ugh I wish I could read it for the first time again!

I didn't like the book as much as the hype around it. It was a bit slow and I was bored at times but I couldn't put it down because I had to know how it all ends. Though it definitely felt like a chore to read. But I can definitely see why people would love it. I felt like the setting and places were beautiful, getting to see time change over three centuries. It just wasn't for me.

This is a book that is most enjoyable as an audiobook and thats how to consumed it. This is a REALLY slowburn book, so you can really get engaged by listening to it at a consistent pace and with the great voice acting. Otherwise, you might get bored as you read it.

I really loved this book due to it being atmospheric and having been set in multiple different areas around the world. I really didn't mind it being slow and didn't really notice actually! I really liked the character of Addie too. It was a very comfortable book to me and it made me feel good even with some of the not so good things that went on.

@@celinek9293 I think maybe checking it out at a library first and reading it would be a good idea instead of buying it straight away. If you have read it though, that would be an easier decision. Depends on how much you like the book and if you're willing to read it again. I don't know your taste in books so I really don't think I am in the right place to give you advice sorry :(

I'm the same with with her. I LOVED Darker Shade of Magic, but didn't love a lot of her other books. I HATED Lyla in the first book and tolerated her in the third book. She's too much. Just TOO much. Addie, though, felt different and I enjoyed it.

Victoria Schwab for me is like the ultimate coin flip author. I just truly don't know what side the coin is gonna land on with her books in terms of liking them or disliking them. Like when you read around 2 or so books from the same author, you tend to get an idea of their writing and if you'll like their stuff going forward so when they come out with a new book you know if you're gonna get it or not based on your opinions of their past work. But with Victoria Schwab is like.. genuinely no idea. Genuinely. She comes out with a new book, will I like it? Have no clue. Even if a book is in the same series of hers that I previously liked/disliked, still no clue.

I enjoyed it but yeah it was slow. I probably would not give it 5 out of 5 mainly because I felt there were times were I was skimming and not really reading because I just wanted to get through it but there was enough interest for me to stick with it and finish it. I would say I liked it but I didn't love it 3.5 out 5

I have been listening to the audiobook. I am really enjoying it. It is definitely a different take on Immortality. It has been the only book to cause Who Wants To Live Forever to play in my head. The slow and meandering did not bother me. Highlander is one of my most favorite movies.
