Witchlands is truly a shipper's dream. I hope we get the final book soon! Also I'll never be over the romance in Remnant Chronicles, I still re-read sections of it every year.

I will forever and always adore the Graceling Realm series by Kristin Cashore. The first books were published over a decade ago but they hold up SO WELL. Healthy, respectful, communication-based relationships that give me all the feels every time I reread them (and I have done so probably seven or eight times by now).

ugh yes you are so right I'm so mad I forgot them! I need to do a re-read.

When I think of romance in fantasy, invariably and almost involuntarily , what comes first in my mind is the rose conjuring scene from Uprooted. Hands down the best romance in fantasy for me, I don't make the rules 😍😍😍

WAIT omg I’m so sold on the Shep Garrus/Thane book. I’m more of a Garrus girly myself but I also love Thane so um YES I’m adding that to my TBR

I really enjoyed Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Normally I loathe Human Girl/Nonhuman Guy romantic plots beyond all measure, and I only read this one because I was intrigued by the 1920s Mexico setting, but the love story managed to win me over. C.M. Waggoner's Unnatural Magic flips the usual script and pairs a Nonhuman Girl -- a half-troll in this case -- with a Human Guy, and I love the ever-loving heck out of this pair, partly because I so rarely see their like in the fantasy genre.

And all of a sudden I want to add some of these to my TBR😳 Some of my favourite (usually queer) romances in SFF include: The Burning Kingdom by Tasha Suri (both the main couple and at least one side couple have my heart) Monstress by Marjorie M. Liu and Sana Takeda (can we really call it a subplot, at the very least it's the source of a lot of wonderful angst) The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson The Greenbone Saga by Fonda Lee

This is the perfect time for me to revisit the Winternight Trilogy before The Warm Hands of Ghosts comes out next month. Oh! I’ve been in the mood for witchy books with sapphic romance and keep forgetting to pick up The Once and Future Witches (and the m/f romance sounds RIGHT UP my alley).

My favourite romances in sff are Yeine and Nahadoth in The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, Jean and Ezri in Red Seas Under Red Skies, Hiccup and Astrid in How To Train Your Dragon, and Legolas and Gimli (I'm not taking any questions). Some of these dont have traditional happy romantic endings but I just love the pining, the growth of the relationship, and especially the stakes

Yeine and Naha were soooo good 😍

If you haven’t read Little Thieves, you’re truly missing out on a dynamite Demi/Demi romance subplot. I’m also a Bree, Nick and Sel polycule truther to the point that it’s honestly concerning. Other books I enjoyed for the romance subplot were A Dark and Hollow Star, A Strange and Stubborn Endurance, The Rook and Rose trilogy, and Lore of the Wilds-plus the angstiest slow burn I’ve ever read was actually from a long-form middle grade series.

I never moved on from Jude and Cardan from The Cruel Prince, they’re still my favourite angsty romance. Another couple close to my heart are Ead and Sabran from priory ❤️

I still use them! They are my main glasses. I also recently got the sunglasses toppers for them.

Just popping in to say I really like the two romantic relationships in the Memoirs of Lady Trent. Not spoiling anything, but those are the right level of romance for me (basically just cute proposals and quick asides about married life, haha).

Have you seen the show Dark Matter? I feel like Jessie Mihalik's Consortium Rebellion series has those vibes but more romance - I think the first one is the best. It's very much two equal baddies with skills, which I think is my perfect combo. I already recommended Megan O'Keefe to you, which I feel are easy recs since you liked Chilling Effect. I'm so in my sci-fi era I'm struggling to think of a fantasy couple I really like.

Also I really didn't think I'd end up being a Locked Tomb fan because reading them was such a weird, confusing time but now I'm caught up I'm fully obsessed.

Have you read Alix e harrow's newest release Starling House? I love the romance in that book. It's so cute. Also Blood Grace series by Vela Roth, technically Fanro, but its heavy on the fantasy politics and the romance is more of a subplot. Lio is such a sweet cinnamon roll. He worships Cassia.

I have! I enjoyed that romance but this video was for my all-time favorites. If they stand the test of time in my brain, they will definitely be mentioned in the future :)

When you talked about the religious trauma boy who can't resist the woman who should be all wrong for him, I could only think of Josselin from the Kushiel's Dart series. It is also a political plot-driven fantasy, with great world-building with a side of romance.

Omg I’ve been meaning to read Kushiel’s forever!
