I got this 1tb build a month ago but I put it on a 2tb ssd and hdd and added additional games that were missing from my collection (including switch games), now it's closer to 1 and a half tb full, got around 400gb left and I am stil adding more games to it. I did do my own build but these had all the arcade games so I used this as my base and improved/personalised it.

BoredGameDad knows what he's doing. I checked out way too many retro build images over the years, and his images are always among the best, with only very little adjustments and customization required to fit my needs.

I downloaded this build, and yeah it took a few days, but appears to be worth it. I mean 1 TB of games, that is quite a bit, especially if you want to use this in an arcade build. One game that it does include which sealed the deal for me is ICO for PS2. It is highly underrated as far as I am concerned. I remember loving that game. That poor kid with horns locked in some ancient tomb, and he rescues a ghost (of all things) and they have to find a way out. It was very immersive from what I remember.

I have a question as Im sure you can tell since im hitting you up in a random comment but any help would be awesome. I downloaded an image off A.P. and once it finished on bittorrent the file is now in .rar instances and the file is already unzipped with 115 files making up the download. In all the videos ive watched the file once downloaded is still zipped and they go in and unzip it to then grab the .img file and put that into etcher. There has got to be something im doing wrong but I am currently stuck figuring this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated as im stuck .thank you and hope your day is going great.

@boredgamedad Жыл бұрын
@@hemiodonnell1347 That's highly dependent on the drive speed, but I'd say expect a few hours. It definitely won't be days or anything like that.

It took about 2 hours, loving the build. I have added quite a lot to it now. Can I ask, what scraper did you use? I like how the box art is blended with a screenshot. I can't seem to scrape my new titles like that.
@boredgamedad Жыл бұрын
@@hemiodonnell1347 I'm glad you're enjoying it! I downloaded the ARRM scraper. It takes some set-up but it's fantastic! I believe I have my setting on Mix 2. You'll need to set up a Screen Scraper account as well. There's another scraper I like that's just called Skraper UI that is excellent as well, but that one pretty much forces you to scrape whole systems at a time. Not great if you just add one game and need to scrape it.

I'm new to all this. So does purchasing this mini pc come with these retro games or do I need to download them onto it?
@boredgamedad Жыл бұрын
The image is a separate download. You can either swap out the internal drive with this (or any other) Batocera PC image, or run the image from a portable hard drive. One incredibly helpful thing to know before you make any purchases is that you'll need a 1TB (or more) drive to write the image on, but you'll also need another drive that's at least 1TB to download the image on. 2TB would be better. The image is downloaded as a series of compressed RAR files, so you'll need one drive for that. Then you have to use WinRAR or 7zip to extract the image itself from the RAR files. If you have two 1TB drives, you'll need to extract the image onto your second drive, because you won't have room on the first. Once the image is extracted and you have a .img file, you can delete the RAR files. That should give you a blank 1TB drive that you can now use BalenaEtcher to write the .img file on.

Messed with this today. Batocera seems awesome, until you actually try and configure RetroArch. They don't seem to like you trying to change things as simple as hotkeys or shaders. As soon as you quit back to batocera, it reverts everything back. Makes is massively unusable if you want any level of control. Very clearly meant to be "plug and play".
@boredgamedad Жыл бұрын
If you press "start" from the main screen you get a popup for options. If you go to Game Options there is a Per System Advanced Configuration option that includes many of the RetroArch options in it. Any changes made there are retained upon reboot. You're very correct about Batocera being slightly less customization friendly than some other options. I like this for it's simplicity and ease of use, but I totally get that it isn't necessary the best for everyone.

These suck. Build your own if you truly want zero effups. Anyone can download romsets, copy and paste them to corresponding folders, auto scrape them or download media sets. Choose a theme you like and bam. The mini PC is awesome though!!!!
@Chepakishui Жыл бұрын
These builds can be nice as a jumping off point for removing games you really don't care for and adding some that you do want though were not originally part of the build. This said, the issue is that too many people have been wanting stuff that is just plug and play, they don't know how to make their own build and don't want to bother learning. Or they'd rather take the time they would spend making their personal build and spend it playing one that is premade and good enough for them.
