Thousands attend Chosen Few Picnic in Chicago's Jackson Park

Born and raised in Texas….La Marque, Tx. The first time I heard of house music was on The Tom Joyner Cruise in 2013. The song was Follow Me by Aly Us. From that moment on I fell in love with House Music. I attended my first Chosen Few DJ Festival in 2018. My mind was blown. 40,000 people on one accord having an awesome time. Salute to the Chosen Few DJs. Man I love Chicago. Summertime CHI is Legendary. Salute from H-Town TX.

A large percent of the people that attend were teenagers in the 80’s when house music kicked off. We were raised to respect and love one another. In this group you won’t see fights. Heck most are in their 40’s 50’s & 60’s

Although the majority of attendees are black, there are whites, Hispanics, straight, gay, old, young and from multiple nationalities as far away as visitors every year from Europe's soil for this annual 2-day picnic with zero crime since its inception. True peace and truly amazing.

The Chosen Few picnic Festival attendees reach 40,000 house head Fans no violence this year of 2023 this is the largest outdoor house music party in the city of Chicago always start on the first week of July featuring all of the legendary house music DJs from the 80s a special salute to Frankie Knuckles the founder of house music and the King of House music Farley Jackmaster Funk. The Chosen Few picnic Will be back on July 2024 at 5700 south Lake Shore Drive behind the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois great music and great food.

Frankie Knuckles from The Bronx New York brought it to Chicago 1977 as Club/Klub Music formerly known as disco the name was changed when Chicagoans started making music in the basements of the houses thus the name House Music was born. FACTS.

These comments are terrible. I've gone to these over the years. It depends on what type of mindset you bring with you. Yes it is mostly a black drawn festival but House Music started as a mostly black music culture. A black music and gay culture. There is room for anyone that shows that they can bring something positive to the table. If it's not for you then you'll know. Even though I left Chicago 5 years ago I still have great respect and admiration for the city's dj's that helped me grow to be the dj I am today. Glad the picnic went well!

Actually, this 2-day annual event has been going on for decades with zero shootings. People from as far as Europe come to celebrate the picnic also. Although it's a majority of black attendees, this is the ONLY mass event that I will attend. There's a different caliber of people in attendance. It's definitely TRUE peace and enjoyment there. It's called the "Chosen Few" picnic because the original DJ's from the 70s Tru the 80s which helped to create this genre of music (House music) usually attend and DJ, thus called the "chosen few."
