Sure he's no Asbel but he still has amazing boss killing potential and his combat never actually falls off. You said he's not that bulky, too, and frankly I don't know what you need considering he has high HP, Avo, and Def (eventually) Misha is just too frail even for B in my opinion, and just like Eiryos her combat is very easy to replicate by that point. Of course she's left with fairly few outdoors maps as well. I _am_ a bit of a Misha hater myself, admittedly :p ... and again, not much else really. Amalda may deserve B. Wouldn't mind Leif, Nanna and Salem in A, or Kein and Alva in D. But in general I feel like you gave solid reasoning for basically everyone, down to a lot of details that I don't think a lot of people even know about. Good list ! Good job ! Liked, commented and subscribed ! Edit : Oh, and base Tina missing with her staff _and_ not getting a movement star afterwards has a 27% chance of happening. However, she'd only have a 64% chance on her second roll as well, soooo... I'm getting a 69.76% chance of her successfully getting a staff to work at base, but not 100% sure the math is correct.

Halvan ended up my favorite of the starter axe bros, Vantage with the Brave Axe lets you get 2 hits on enemy phase before they get one. He ends up untouched mowing through glass cannon/fodder, makes training real smooth! Then after promotion, he’ll have like 15 str, skl, spd, def, and bld even without scrolls, and the free vantage and x4 followup crits. One rank of swords and he’ll get killer swords for guaranteed crits. Just surprisingly solid, low investment high pay off.

Well that was a fun 7 hours of my life, writing three essays goes by a lot quicker listening to Thracia analysis. To answer your question about the killer lances, my memory of the time I tried to rig Lifis' constitution (ended poorly) is that the chapter 9 wyvern squad has stealable killer lances if Lifis gets a few con level ups, but realistically the one Eda starts with is the first you can get. Also you said Leif can rescue Asbel, he can but only before Asbel promotes, although I don't think this matters too much since getting Leif a single con level up is pretty likely. Also fun fact, Leif gets his 1 leadership star in 2x in that brief window while August is there, just a fun fact. Another fun strategy for Thracia, everybody knows about fire sword staffs on Nanna/Amalda, but allow me to introduce you to paragon staffing. Nanna can equip the paragon sword and have paragon while she staffs, which saves uses on the paragon sword while still getting the benefit. Now for some things I disagree with. Firstly, the Glade slander needs to end. His leadership star gives him some free utility that doesn't require using him at all in the map itself, and with the generous deployment limits he can be easily brought to lots of maps even if he's otherwise pretty bad in a given map. His indoor combat is pretty bad (iron sword lol) but thankfully after he joins there isn't another indoor map until chapter 18, which is around the time he begins to fall off, but before then he pretty easily slots in as a solid filler unit that requires little investment and gives a passive bonus just by existing. I don't even think his placement is that off, he should just be around Ralph, but I will not tolerate such slanderous lies about my goat. Secondly, and as a Misha defender I hate to say this, but I think her position should be swapped with Amalda. Amalda joins one chapter later with the same magic, strength, and FCM, more HP and Defense, an extra point of movement, a leadership star, swords while mounted, and staffs. In exchange Misha gets 1 extra chapter and flight. She's decent in chapter 18 but not exceptional, and flying is good to have but I only think it's really great in chapter 19 where she can nab the villages and still escape in time. Yes, the magic sword trick doesn't quite reach what you'd want it to for Amalda, but having an 18 magic sleep/silencer is still really nice to have, and her combat is also better than Misha. Third, I think Salem works similarly enough to Sleuf and Sara that he should be in the same tier as them. He does have to go through a longer training arc than either of them, which should be held against him, but he probably hits A staffs around the time you recruit Sleuf, so he can do warps and sleeps in all the same important places he would. I think he should go next to the other two staffers, where specifically doesn't really matter. Lastly, I think Orsin is good enough to go up to A tier. Yes, the Vouge will probably break, but in those 60 uses of the Vouge he is a complete monster, and by the time it does break he's probably at a similar level as somebody like dismounted Fred or Ralph, even without the Vouge he still has wrath and 3 FCM to carry his combat. There are also recourses if it does break, like Hammerning it or getting the B route one, although I don't assume these because they both come with some heavy drawbacks. There are a few really minor things too. I would swap Alva and Kein, Kein has the higher lance rank, and since garbage like this is only really worth using as filler mounted units I think having a higher weapon rank in their mounted weapon makes him a little bit better, but they're both trash lol. I would move Dalsin below Brighton and Machua, because I do think them being really important in chapter 4 makes them a little better. Galzus being next to Ced also feels really wrong, he is ridiculous but Ced is probably the best unit you have in the last 3 chapters, and in 24x Ced is way better since the only way to beat that map while keeping your sanity is warping around everybody and avoiding most enemies, the most important combat in that chapter is clearing out the room with the escape tile and you want a magically inclined fighter to do that. I think Galzus is more top of C than bottom of B, but that's just me. I also think Olwen should be in C, everybody else in B either gets great utility for free, or gets something amazing with investment, but Olwen needs investment to escape her early issues, which is tough as a promoted unit, and the payoff is great but not on the same level as someone like Sage Homer. I think Saias should move higher up, maybe above Callion, he's just really good in some very hard chapters, and I value that free utility a lot, and he improves your reliability a lot. Oh and move Miranda to Robertland, at least Marty exists in the early game where he can take captured people off of Finn and Dagdar, she has basically nothing going for her, even if you want her to be your meteor user, Ilios can use bolting, Ced can use meteor and blizzard, and Asbel will probably reach blizzard by the time she would be using meteor.

Damn I was agreeing so hard until that last part (never thought about the Nanna trick either, that's really cool) ! Olwen is like, extremely underrated by the community nowadays and I don't entirely understand why, she starts with 25 brave magic might and that just kinda clears everything(you also get a refill courtesy of Reinhardt and unlike Grafcalibur, it has 60 uses, so she's not reliant on Hammerne like other prf users), and you get a few easy bolting before her join time which allow her to OHKO ballista in 13 and 14 among other things. Obviously she has issues as well but that's definitely solid free utility unique to her. Miranda is unarguably super bad (and meteor isn't happening), but Wrath + Wind at base plus the possibility or M.upping her offense means she's relatively easy to train and she does have great growths in a scroll heavy environment to boot. I'd agree she's not particularly better than Kein and Alva, though...

Alright so I'm an avid Robert defender. I think he stands out far more than the lance bros he comes with. I'm not saying he's overall good thanks to his bases but his growths are great and unlike the lance bros with him he has an actual pursuit critical multiplier of 3 and he has a movement star. The Brave Bow is also cracked in Thracia. Robert at least has distinguishing features that make him appealing as a training project whereas the other two have nothing special at all.

Kein and Alva also have very solid growths, though, and Robert needing to attack 100 times before he can use the good bows is just too much. Sure he's more interesting, no question, but better, not really... if anything they're way easier to train than he is.

@@CyclonSilver To me it's more that there's no real reason to bother with them whereas there IS a real reason to use Robert. Even if the lance bros have a meager performance that is generally of higher quality they simply don't justify their deployment over anyone else that fills a similar role. Robert has far less direct competition for the sort of thing he brings to the table.

Robert, at the end of the day, is still a combat unit, and it is not a game where archers can distinguish themselves through flier effectiveness (since we barely fight fliers, ever) or 3+ range. He doesn't kill things any deader than others. But seriously he's one of the units the most screwed by weapon rank in the entire franchise. Kaga truly has his ways.

Good list but there are a few tier placements that seem a bit strange to me Halvan is so underwhelming, his stats are so meh and he needs 90 Wexp to get Master Axes. He's probably a tier worse than Ralph, who is generally better than Halvan even if you train him due to the sword rank. Shiva and Troude are also kinda underwhelming but they have great weapon rank and have a lot of cool things, Halvan kinda has nothing. Callion sucks so much. His big problem is his weapon ranks, they are so bad; he can't use B swords for a long-ass time, he can't use C swords until he promotes, and you can forget about him using any cool lances. He struggles to one-round with a crit when he joins which is so sad. 4 FCM also means he can't get 100% crit setups like Fergus without supports or a crit weapon. He doesn't do anything until he promotes and when he does he's just another unit who kills guys at 1 range. He's Fred but you had to baby him to promotion which is so sad. He's not that much better than Kain and Alva TBH, the only thing he has over them is the ability to use Swords while mounted and 4 FCM, which makes him better than them by a decent amount to be fair, but I genuinely think Hicks is a better unit because Hicks can at least use the Brave Axe until he has enough speed to double, and Hicks has better damage and durability than Callion. Callion is better in the long term, but I find Thracia to be a bad game for investment units so I don't think that's enough. Fred shouldn't be a tier above Glade and Ralph. His growths are good but he doesn't have good 1-2 range so he's not great in indoor maps, and outdoors Glade is keeping pace perfectly fine and has an Authority star and Master Lance access to boot. Olwen and Illios are both too high. Olwen is so frail, she's similar to Selphina in the fact that they both are primarily going to be killing on player phase and spending enemy phase trying not to die, and Selphina even has some advantages over Olwen in this regard. Illios in my mind functions like Ralph as a bulky 1-2 range attacker, except does far worse against Dark Mages. I don't see why he's two whole tiers above Ralph and Xavier and one tier above Osian. Both units also have 5 move indoors which sucks and especially in Illios's case join when staff users begin to take over and make combat units less important, and Illios isn't Deen who is the best unit for several maps. Salem should be in A tier with Schroff and Sara, they all do the same thing when trained. Salem does need to be grinded, but he also has better availability over the other two, and chapter 14 gives him plenty of time to get to A staves. Also, I think the three staffers and Tina are all top of A tier because they are so game-changing. Amalda should definitely go above Misha, they have the same magic and almost the same speed but Amalda has significantly more durability and +1 move, and C staves are always useful. Saias should be up with Ced, I think he's at least better than Galzus due to better availability (which really matters when we're talking units as unavailable as these two) and I honestly find Ced's staffing more valuable than his combat. There are a few other things I'd probably change if I made it (like putting Ronan above Tanya) but those are minor. The important part is that Robert is in the correct place. I still have flashbacks of that one guy who claimed he was better than Selphina because "weapon ranks don't matter when you're one-rounding enemies" as if Robert does that. Fucking E bows in chapter 9 what are you doing. Also, shoutouts to KZbin for forgetting to notify me of this video.

Halven has alot more game to be useful in, so even if he's statistically worse than Ralph at that point (halven CAN be better due to the nature of growths and scrolls) By the time Ralph joins halven has had alot of time to to contribute as a filler unit with brave axe utility (yes dagdar should also use it but trading means BOTH can use it) By the time Ralph joins there just isnt much need for either Halven or Ralph, so the lack of master weapons is fine

Just will be used longterm and deserves love and is only really replacable by Pahn (or use both because rogues are great) Will argue that Lifis doesn't fall off Pahn is just (sometimes) a step up but if you fail to recruit Pahn/death he'll you wouldnt not use him. Maybe... maybe he's strong longterm because all the books he steals giving you alot of longterm cash and stamina potions that mean he's the reason you get to use strong units later (cope)

I think lifis being a bad combat unit (0 fucc) is part of thracias amazing design, he shows the player early that noncombat units are REALLY good at helping in combat, even without high stats (lara not having eneugh build to steal books would have left a bad impression on thieves if you only got her)

I'm mostly in agreement, though I think that in terms of ranking he should be the very bottom of C or top of D. At the very least 100% better than either archer. At the beginning of the game the enemies are so low quality that his lack of skill doesn't really affect his hit rates and he's rarely getting doubled by most pirates/soldiers in the pre manster arc, and his 9 strength is very respectable. When he rejoins you have the +30 skill scroll, and he makes great use of the brave axe. If he gains any stray points of skill and speed before promotion (like maybe 3 or 4) , he'll have around 9 or 10 speed and similar skill, in which he becomes a very solid filler unit on late game maps. his dagdar support actually does improve his hit just enough to make his accuracy better, plus they're gonna be together often since they're both infantry. Talking as someone who has used Marty on several runs, it takes some training but not an unreasonable amount of it to get him rolling; if you train up Tanya or Ronin they're stuck on bows and cannot capture. TLDR; Marty Party real.

Thracia really is one of* the original “anyone can be good if not great if you use the tools we give you even without excessive grinding” games in the series, what with growth-raising scrolls that tell you exactly what they raise and low universal non-HP stat caps. I’ve gotten some *hilariously* lucky level-up RNG on some of the Fianna Scrub Squad, went “fuck it, let’s do it” and rolled with, for example, Tanya all the way to endgame. (I was gonna say *the* original but I remembered the FE3 Star Shards but those do disappear eventually and so does the Starsphere so it’s to a lesser extent) Anyway, I saw the length of the video and I was sure it would be devolving into a shitpost at some point but nope this is just exhaustive!

I was listening to the Galzus section and I don't know if this is touched on elsewhere but Luna and Sol in the Jugdral games in addition to their obvious effects they bypass accuracy checks when they proc and will always result in a hit (I think outside of Miracle)
