**Ultimate Catchup for 9.1 Chains of Domination: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXi0onR4hLJsqbc Hiya Folks! Short but sweet, Thrall meets Mama Draka, but no cutscene of a bear hug, tearful reunion accompanied by Draka feeding Thrall microwaved ravioli as she gently pats his head. Much sad. The later part pays tribute to Thrall’s life in WoW and Metzen’s years of dedication to voice acting (and nearly every NPC out there). Long live the Pickle! Now where doomhammer?

Thrall: I was the slave who become a warchief, raised by the humans. I joined ranks with Doomhammer myself and freeing my enslaved people from the human prisons. I saved our race by bringing them to Kalimdor from the scourge invasion. I united races and liberate both the Taurens and the Darkspear tribe in their wars. I fought endless invasions of demons and watched one of the greatest warrior die in my arms, and had to kill one of the greatest warriors in a mak'gora myself, the son... I was a shaman, the truth is I was Green b'jesus myself leading the Earthern ring and was in fact one of the strongest shamans ever lived on Azeroth. I shot down Deathwing from the sky, you know, nothing special, but I did it. Draka: Yeah, sure... but, who are you now?

Thrall was the heart of people who wanted a better horde. Not just an enemy of the humans but one which sensibly saw the cosmic threats as far greater then petty squabbles for battlegrounds. Unfortunately like warhammer there must always be war, because the plot demands a continuing fight. Betraying any real progress to rubble.
@thewatcherinthecloud
@thewatcherinthecloud 3 жыл бұрын
Writers of early WoW knew what they were doing: civic conflict, underground negotiations, borders and resources contested, political kidnappings and backstabbing, fighting for lineage, and the difficulty of gathering numbers to your cause. These were all the reasons for wars. But the newer writers always focused on the power fantasy without thinking about the motivations for the characters. In their minds, it was always just "defending the world against evil." They forgot about other motivations for conflict, and just constantly thrust world-saving into the players' faces. It pushed out the reason why the Alliance and Horde fought; while they tried to bring their conflict back several times, it always was in the shadow of "world saving", which the player base eventually grew tired of.

Speaking honestly, the war between the Alliance and Horde nowadays are a part why WoW started to tire me, although i continues to like the Lore. Now, however, the gap between the factions has become something almost monotonous who genuinely seem forced. I like the rivalry itself, and I like how they try to show who is better than the other ... but when it comes to real wars, frankly prefer external threats, now that WoW seems to have consumed the thing of the wars between factions.

@@kevindemon2911 tbh, they could have looked at the history of France vs England or England vs everyone else in that bloody isle to get a sense of what really drives war. Early battlegrounds had that sense of fighting over precious resources, and the leaders of these conflicts had a terrible dislike of the enemy faction. I think it was with WotLK where they had a hard time playing with that conflict. I think Garrosh was the path to go; the problem was that he didn't have an equally war-mongering rival in the alliance at that time. Cata would have been an exciting expansion if Garrosh and an alliance commander were constantly juking it out and the contested areas LITERALLY changed hands everyday. I think this is what Blizzard originally had in mind, but they just made the Alliance too much of the "good guys" to give them character flaws.

I'm so glad this reunion happened :) For those that are wishing he wields Doomhammer..... yeah about that. That ended up being handed down to us (if you play Enhancement Shaman) as a Legion artifact, which was filled with so much power then we kinda made it paper weight the moment we used it to drain the power from Sargeras' sword in Silithus. So it just sits in the bank :') Draka: Where is the hammer? Thrall: I once had it, then I gave it to this shaman. *Draka turns to Shaman*: And where is it now? *Shaman fidgets*: In... the bank.. Draka: :| Shaman: Let me explain. Stay awhile and listen. *proceeds to tell the events of Legion*

I'm gonna give that a tentative yes, because Thrall grew up a literal slave. He likely had very little to eat during his most formative years, not to mention a severe lack of parental affection, both of which can cause stunted growth in human children. For all Draka knew up until this point, her baby could've been dead. Seeing him alive was probably the biggest surprise, not the physical changes that happened in her absence.

@@Alex-ux4du I did, and yes, he's very big compared to other orcs, but he's still small compared to Draka and probably Durotan. Genn: Anduin. Genn: Your father's actions were indeed heroic, it was his challenge to us. His people, to never let fear prevail. Even at the very gates of Hell. *Intense revolution of Varian glimpse from the realms of the dead* Anduin: What am I suppose to do know? Varian: What a king must do. This short dialogue reminds me of this a lot. Reuniting with your dead parent is seriously tearful

Great video about a long-awaited meeting. I'm surprised you haven't added any Warcraft 3 cinematics, like the battle against Mannoroth. Let's wait and see what Draka says about the life of her son. Can you imagine the questions? Draka: interesting life, my son. By the way, you say that you have a family already in Azeroth with someone of our same race. From everything you have told me, I was hoping that you would have offspring with that woman called Jaina with whom you have shared so many moments, despite being human XD

Thrall is a great character that you can relate. In fact one of the best in the warcraft universe. He feels the weight of his actions. He has feelings and morals which make him question his actions. Although he accomplished too much he still has to deal with grief of some of his choices. He feels human.

Beautifully done I would have waited for the official 9.1 release though as Blizzard's footage is still WIP When Drakka asked about Thrall's life I thought the story should have started from his enslavement Even though there isn't in game footage. There was the quest chain when he was kidnapped by the druids of the flame in cata and him dealing with his demons as his essence was split among the elemental planes in cataclysm

I know this kind of unrelated but after rewatching the scene where Vol’jin becomes Warchief… do you see what they’re doing to the Horde? They basically killed off the ‘old guys’ who sought to bring the Horde together and now we’ve got ‘new leaders’ (aside from slyvanas) who are trying to keep the Horde together whereas the Alliance is literally vice versa. I mean Turion is going to become radical like Sylvanas, Tyranda is basically at this point Sylvanas in her own ‘I’m gonna take care of business’ type of way. Greymane is kinda like Garrosh. He’s very much a Puritan and wants to restore Lorderon (very much like Turion wants to/will do). It’s just really crazy to see how far our beloved characters have come. Some are heroes of the past, while others are victorious leaders

When I met Draka for the first time I was hoping for a reunion with Thrall, and in Chains of Domination, when Thrall volunteered to join us, I nearly squealed like a fangirl. The cherry on top was when after Draka reveals she knew he was her son, they had that heart to heart, asking who he is now.

When I started playing SL and ran into Drakka, I started to get misty-eyed thinking and hoping at some point these two would meet and she would get to see how her son turned out. Later on during the mission to assault the Maw, I was like: come on already tell her who you are dammit. Then at the last, some asshole was cutting some fierce onions and I had trouble seeing the screen. Good stuff.

7:28 I believe this is foreshadowing that after everyone comes back from the shadowlands and defeats the jailor, either thrall or sylvanas will take the sigils back and use it to change back to its original time where deathwing was never controlled by the old gods and garrosh never became the warchief and arthas never went to the frozen throne. I believe thrall will be warchief again but by doing so they need to change time again (or go back in time) also facing the dreadlords once and for all

It's interesting that Blizzard has Thrall interact and learn from female characters most often(Taretha, Jaina, Aggra, and now Draka). There's definitely a case for Thrall being representative of some kind of empathetic masculinity being influenced by strong female characters.
