I had a crazy few months, looking for a house and closing on one to a wild unpredictable move where everything went wrong, I kinda dropped out of looking at new music and lost track of Thralls and the like. But now that I’m getting settled this was a good album to come back to. Great review!

I just picked this up and totally love it. The music is gloriously melodic and more complex than previous releases and I love how they are breaking away from just being a death/doom band.

Necrotic Nick- Hooded Menace has yet to miss in my book but this is such a different album in so many awesome ways. The guitar work is damn good on this and all that classic metal influence works so well with their deathdoom sound. Andy killed it on the production too.

Necrotic Nick- I had a good feeling about this one even with the slightly different direction. Hooded Menace are one of those bands I measure a lot of deathdoom by and they raised the bar a bit I think on this one.

Wow, definitely not a standard HM album. Sounded like Khemmis, Candlemass, King Diamond, and Hooded Menace all thrown in a pot to stew and the resulting dish is delicious. Mix is on point, sounds like they moved up from the caverns to the dungeon. This album is meaty, sink your teeth in anywhere and there's plenty to chew on. Totally on board with the direction they are going, thanks for the awesome review guys. Off to pick this one up.

Lasse's a huge fan of classic 80s heavy metal and really seems to understand the essence of made those 80s records great, so it's not surprising that Hooded Menace have managed to integrate those influences seamlessly into their style of death/doom. The more uptempo, melodic parts definitely make the doomier sections stand out a lot more. The bonus cover of WASP's The Torture Never Stops is really good too. This is a good week for new releases (as usual). I'm hoping you guys review the new albums/EPs from Spirit Adrift, Our Place Of Worship Is Silence and Wormwitch, those are all ones I'm really stoked on.

Necrotic Nick- The love of 80's metal was all over this and it was worked into their overall sound so damn well. I only go the standard version so I missed out on the WASP cover unfortunately. A lot of solid realeases this week. We'll have some reviews up for Spirit Adrift and Nunslaughter. I might just throw Wormwitch in a collection update if I snag it up.

I will check this one out today. I don't have any Hooded Menace albums yet, but that may soon change. Now that we have finished moving and have most of the stuff unpacked, I feel like I can focus more on music again. Although, I'm now being EXTRA careful in making sure the dog doesn't get curious and starts grabbing CD's off the shelf, lol.

Necrotic Nick- This bad would be a killer deep dive. You'll get a killer feel for the evolution of their sound which this album is vastly different in a lot of ways from the older material. If your dog likes CDs to play with find a copy of St.Anger and let him trash that. lol

@@thrallsofmetal Yeah I haven’t investigated them much more yet (could’ve at work but I wasn’t in a Death/Doom kinda mood…caught up on some Supertramp, Led Zep and Motörhead instead) but I will soon. I really like their unique sense of melody, there is no one else I’ve ever heard that would use the bye choices they do especially for leads. Of course this is based off only “Fulfill the Curse” and “Effigies of Evil” but so far I really like their style. Got “Never Cross the Dead” downloaded and ready to go (I mostly stream these days due to cost and space constraints) and I’m eagerly looking forward to giving that a listen! Necrotic Nick- I strongly recommend it if you're a big deathdoom fan. This has a lot of classic heavy metal influence as well which gives a different sound but it's doomy as hell. It really depends on what all comes out that week when it comes down to Ex Deo to be honest.

Necrotic Nick- I've been a fanboy for awhile but this is a very different album in a lot of respects so this would be an interesting start. Their other material is much slower and even more bleak but it's also amazing as well. I'd love to see this band live one day too.

This Hooded Menace album is great! Those guitar melodies hit really hard! Right now i just finished listening a new band for me that a friend just told me the band called Summoner's Circle and the album is called Chaos Vector. Man this band play progressive black metal but like the old progressive bands. Its something like Dream Theater/Symphony X style progressive meets Taake/old Dimmu Borgir something in between. Specialy that Dimmu Borgir style/feeling black metal from the Enthrone Darkness era. Imagine the song In Death Embrace from that album but with a strong progressive touch. That's what in my book they sound like. I think you guys need to check them out too if you're dont know them. Keep up the good reviews comin' as always. Stay Safe! Cheers!!! 🍻🤘
