It could have been very well worded with both a salute to his legacy that also included a message about the dangers of using drugs. They were more worried about their bottom line and the brand than they were about the generations of youngsters that look to them for inspiration. And by doing that blew the situation and the opportunity to be transparent big time. I don't agree with you at all.

It's not about transparency, it's not about a brand, it's about Jake being a person with a family who have the right to not go public with information like that (if that was the case.) And furthermore this idea that if Jake's death was drug related it would have sunk thrasher is just such a reach. I feel like you've created a fictional problem in order to feed your conspiracy narrative. Obviously you're pretty set on this idea, I don't think I will change your mind. But really it's worth asking yourself if it's more likely that friends and family wanted privacy surrounding a tragedy or if there is some huge conspiracy involving a skateboarding media company.
