I love the workshop, and I think if you look at the current generation of skate companies you can see how massive their influence has been, especially with dudes like dill, Ave, pappalardo, strobeck, Dylan (rip), and many others going on to influence and create the most popular brands today like FA, hockey, and even limousine and violet. IMO their aesthetic is still very much relevant because of this. The team looks pretty good now! If they could just put out some really strong footage I bet we could see a revival. I’m hoping so anyway

My first board was a Danny Way Alien. 23 years later, I’m still riding Alien and just bought my 2 year old his first. The Sovereign Sect is immortal. 🙏🏻 thanks for the many years of great skateboarding. Side note I still have my time code, photosynthesis and mosaic all on beautiful crisp VHS.

I was able to tell sooner into the film this wasn't directed by Gregg Hunt, because Hunt bridged scenes between the tricks to reflect the weirdness of skateboarding and societal culture through the perspective of an Alien. Yet I love this production, the music was great, they didn't neglect the Alien Workshop video theme and the skaters are super. Long live the Sovereign Sect. ❤

I'm sure Danny Way felt the same way about relaunching Plan B, that it wasn't gonna work out and it was a risk, well look at Plan B today, this generation of skaters are Gnarly! They could easily make there way back into skateboarding, is it gonna be that feeling that we got from watching the amazing videos they made in the mid 2000s probably not, but with some time and effort they could give these kids out there the same feeling I got from watching Heath Kirchart in Mindfield, probably not right away, but the good news is they have no where to go but up, Alien is one of those brands that is always gonna be nostalgic for me no matter what

Not a fan of the Thrasher logo collab, too ubiquitous, but love AWS and the video with real Southern flavor is great. I use AWS 7/8 hardware, good stuff, comes with an extra nut+bolt and keeps the grip nice & flat around mounting holes. Make some new inspired graphics at PS Stix or BBS and I'm down

There's very good reason for that. Joe Castrucci is the art director behind the AWS era that spawned Habitat. He joined in roughly 2000, so before him the creative vision (memory screen, timecode) was from Chris Carter, Neil Blender, and Mike Hill. For Photosynthesis he interpreted that vision in his own way and the AWS style evolved. Of the 4 names I've dropped, the only 1 involved in this vid is Castrucci.
