I don't understand how these guys didn't become as well known as the other death metal bands from the late 80s and early 90s like carcass, obituary, napalm, deicide, cannibal corpse... Etc.
@kevinr2783 жыл бұрын
I would guess it was because cancer came out a little bit after those other bands were already established. Their first records were 1990 and 91. By that time, the new wave of bouncy slam dance stuff like biohazard and Pantera etc were starting to take over and knock off the old death metal stuff. They were just a bit too late to the game in my opinion. Regardless, this is definitely a wicked good band.

This is the definition a low-budget music video!! I can relate though, in 1998/99 I used to put on 'after-school metal shows' in my parent's barn out here in my old small town Illinois (back in high school -ha). Thats probably because as vocalists go deeper and deeper with their voices their own accent and voice is less audible in the vocals, so lots of death metal vocalists sound very similar to each other, but each person have different vocal tone, so the difference might be big or just slight.

ben and nate Just so you know: I wasn't suggesting that it was why solely you would laugh at this genre of music. More that many people who have laughed and taken the piss - often born of ignorance - at 'smelly music', tended to be from the casuals scene. At least back in the 80s and 90s.
