Good review of these tools. Looking forward to your future video on this. Been a few years since I've done any thread chasing, need to re-engage again; I know it's fun to do.

Ashley Iles (a UK company) make the Unichaser, one tool that cuts internal & external threads. Best used with a special tool rest to hold the the chaser tool correctly.

I am aware of them. I made a chaser from a bolt and doing a male thread pushing the tool sideways did not work for me. I did a video on it.

@@MikePeaceWoodturning I enjoy using the Ashley Iles 16 tpi Unichaser; over an ordinary Sorby round bar rest. I found no advantage in a Bill Jones style arm support; rather it was a nuisance. I also made my own "Monochaser" from an old good quality bench chisel, with male cutting across the top edge and female on the side.12 tpi. It's easy to do with a steady hand, and as others have said , does not require special steel as thread chasing doesn't wear the tool too fast. The original handle serves well. Bernard.

I'll look forward to those other videos. How about one on thread chasing jigs??? They seem pretty pricey!

Check out the video link at the end of this video for my video contrasting jigs with chasers.

@@MikePeaceWoodturning Thanks for pointing that out. Apparently I had watched that video some time ago. The like button was already pushed. Old guys forget things.
