This is the best video by far for threading your Pfaff. There are several posted on KZbin and they are more frustrating than worth it. Outstanding work and demonstration Willie. Thank you!

@@TheThoughtfulWoodworker I am having issues with the tension I believe. Not sure if it is the needle size or possibly the thread size I am using. I have a 190LR 24 with 207 Poly bonded thread. I will get three or four decent stitches and then it misses completely for about 4 or 5 stitches. Any ideas what could be causing this?
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker2 жыл бұрын
@@lelandartripe860 Yes, that's a bit too heavy thread for that machine. Start with 92 weight thread and a #20 needle. 138 thread would be about max. Is your 545 an H4 version? If yes then the 190 system needle is perfect. If it's an H3 then it uses a 134-35 needle system. Good luck getting it dialed in.
@lelandartripe8602 жыл бұрын
@@TheThoughtfulWoodworker Willie yes its the H4. It was bought used and had a 135/17 needle in it when I got it so I had some concerns that someone may have retimed it for the smaller/shorter needle. Could that be possible?
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker2 жыл бұрын
@@lelandartripe860 yes that's possible. If so, it's pretty easy to put it back to the stock configuration. You would just need to raise the needle bar slightly. My Juki LU-563 uses a 135-17, but I converted it to a 190 needle system by raising the needle bar. Best

You saved my sanity there where you said not to put the thread around the spring part and on the metal piece. I'm very new beginner so I appreciate that!! Thank you

Hi great video thank you for it. I just purchased a pfaff 461 and my thread is bunching up under the project. What am I doing wrong please help!
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker20 күн бұрын
Please make sure you're using the correct system needle for your machine. Also, the needle size must be correct for the thread you're using. For example size 18 needle for 69 weight thread (Tex 70). Beyond that, the biggest issue I see is not enough upper thread tension. If you're seeing loose loops on the underside of the fabric, try increasing upper thread tension. Thanks
@OnRezOn217 күн бұрын
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker Appreciate that help. I picked up needles from JoAnn fabric yesterday and they didnt carry the brand I was told it needed. I picked up thread "art s964 a4 100" needles schmetz 130/705 H LL 90/14. Not sure it they work together.
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker15 күн бұрын
@@OnRezOn2 Yeah, I don't think Joannes has the right needles or thread for that machine. You need 134-35 needle system if it's a H3 Sub model, or 190 system needles if it's an H4 high lift machine. Thread should be bonded nylon or bonded polyester, typically in a 69, 92, or 138 weight. Needle size varies depending on the thread you select. My favorite combo is a #20 needle with 92 weight thread. Good luck.

What causes thread to coil up underneath the bobbin holder, the area underneath the whole assembly.
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker7 ай бұрын
Common causes are the bobbin isn't wound well, the machine or bobbin isn't threaded correctly, or the bobbin wasn't installed properly. Good luck with it.

Hello Willy, I have been learning a lot about the Pfaff 145. i currently have a Pfaff 145-H3, my machine works very well. Your video is very helpful, thank you. My Pfaff is in need of servicing and it is almost impossible to find a repair person where I live, hear in British Columbia, Canada. Have you made a video regarding servicing the Pfaff 145, also I am trying to find a supplier that has parts for the Pfaff 145, could you please tell me where to look for these parts. The Pfaff is have was made in Germany. Thank you so much for your help. Barb

kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIu0kqmkpK2FkKs here is my most comprehensive Pfaff 145 video. I also have one comparing a Pfaff and Juki 563 that may help. I buy most consumable parts from eBay. Otherwise Nick-O-Sew may have some used Pfaff parts. Best to you!

Hello, thank you for responding, I am in the Kamloops area and i can't seem to find anyone that services these machines, most of the technicians have since retired. Are you happy with the service you had done at Mason's. What is their location, I do go to Vancouver now and then, to visit family. @@dariusastells8021

What might be wrong if my Needle is not catching the Bobben thread. I have a pfaff 545. I have 2 needles 135 35lp and 135 17.
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker6 ай бұрын
The wrong needle can cause that. A 545 H3 takes a 134-35 needle, but a 545 H4 takes a longer 190 needle system. Good luck!

On my Pfaff 545, my thread keeps coming out the needle guide, especially when I’m trying to sew faster… it looks like my opening sliding the thread from left to right is wider than in your video… would I throw things off if I was to turn my needle bar a bit so the thread can’t pop out as easy?? Or why would it be doing this? How to prevent this?
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker2 ай бұрын
Someone probably widened the gap on your needle bar thread guide to use thicker thread. You could rotate the needle bar without issues. I tried to pinch that gap closed with pliers once, and it broke. I had to replace the needle bar on that one!

I need a little more info if you're having a sewing problem. Not picking up the lower thread? Not pulling up a tight stitch under your material?

How to wind my bobbin without my needles going up and down on the other end
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker10 ай бұрын
The needle will move when winding a bobbin on this machine. That's normal. Just be sure to raise the presser foot and unthread the needle. Best to you!

Absolutely right ! Do NOT take the thread over the pin at the tension discs. Will cause havoc with the tensions etc. Nightmare !!!
