I've made two 3-bead ropes now; they are so soft & pretty. Absolutely LOVE this stitch. Thank you, Jill. ~~~> Funny thing though, I made a "mistake" between watching your video the first time and reviewing it just now - I load 2 beads for every stitch! I don't do two steps, adding 1 bead then 2 beads. And it looks perfectly fine. Sooo much easier than remembering two steps.

This is SO cool. I’ve been away from beading for a while but recently decided to have another go lol. I love herringbone, always have, and I actually think I learned it from you many years ago. I’ve been wanting a slim (but not flat) bracelet to sit along side my watch. I think this is it! For spirals though, my personal preference was to go down 1, up 2 and for me, less thread showed going that way. It’ll be interesting to see if works on this. Thanks for sharing!!!

I recently figured out how to do the three bead herringbone and it felt great! It is great for pendent and bracelets that are much more dainty than other herringbone stitches. Thank you for the video. I was going down three and up two, and I now see I was just wasting thread! Great video! Thanks Jill!

If you put a 15° in the right position and an 11° in the left position, the "Twist" will be even more noticeable. And of course it works with 11° (R) and 8° (L)....

@@quiltingbirdie Yes, there would be a way to join them, however, I couldn't explain it. I know Jill has a few videos that she explains that. She is SO good! Thanks so much for your informative tutorials! I made a 2 bead herringbone rope, now I'm doing the 3 bead herringbone. I have mastered the technique but I'm wondering if my tension is the reason that I see the threads. I'm using cream, turquoise and multicolored bead with navy thread. Should I use a nylon alternative like fireline? Thanks again! Please keep the videos coming! Update: I found fishing line of .15mm and .13mm and bought them online. I live in Turkey and finding some materials can be very challnging! This morning I remembered what I heard in a tutorial about threads for beading and thought I'd look at fishing lines. Sure enough an online fishing supply vendor has a lot of choices. I hope that the ones I ordered will be ok because I really hate the thread due to splitting and the difficulty of threading the needles.
@kimlindseyOH4 жыл бұрын
That's my question exactly. I tried it 3 times & could always see the threads. I have never had this trouble with any bead techniques before, from Jill or anyone else. I don't know that I'll try again - life is too short. Also, hope you got the fishing line & it's working well for you! :-)

Why does the thread show? I had the same problem with the 2 bead spiral, so I gave that up as I do not like thread showing! Other than that you are my favorite to learn from, & then I teach a small class at a Senior Retirement Home ( individual apartments) where I live!!
@r.t.98815 жыл бұрын
Lorraine Holstrom I think the trick is when Jill says....encourage it to lean....that is where you want to kind of push the bead you are coming up through to move closer to the other bead...this limits the thread from showing so much...I am just starting this rope but I suspect it’s easier to ‘hide’ the thread the more you practice this stitch...
@debbieurquhart85355 жыл бұрын
This is a reply I posted to someone else...hope it helps I found a solution(for me), the thread still shows but it blends in better. I am adding only one bead at a time, instead of two...then one. Yes it is a little slower, but the result is worth it.
