Three CN Trains within 30 Minutes at Jasper Yard; One Departing, One Arriving and a Crew Change

I caught three CN freight trains within 30 minutes at the Jasper Yard. When I arrived at the Jasper Station, a CN mixed freight was coupling back to its train after dropping 7 box cars in the yard near the train station, soon departing westbound. Shortly after, a two-locomotive consist with a single gondola in tow made its way towards the yard office for a crew change after doing some switching further away in the yard. As the new crew made its way back to the east end of the yard, a heavy CN crude oil unit train arrived on the main track, stopping in front of the train station. - Jasper, Alberta - September 1, 2021

Hello from New Zealand. I'm not a follower of CN much so is the railroad line through Jasper fairly flat to only have two? locos running the crude oil train? Ive subscribed, awesome country you have there!

Thanks for subscribing! From what I could gather, the ruling grade west of Jasper is 0.7%. I'm not sure though if two locomotives would be sufficient to pull such a long train over that grade. Maybe someone else with more knowledge on this subject will provide more info. Also, there could very well be another DPU at the end of the train, for which I did not stay long enough at the station to see.
