Lyrics:
I could be mean
I could be angry
You know I could be just like you
I could be fake
I could be stupid
You know I could be just like you
You thought you were standing beside me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you
You thought you were there to guide me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you
You thought you were there to guide me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you

This song may work in many situations, parental, domestic abuse,people trying to tell you how to live ... but word for word its how i feel towards the negitave voice in my head. When im depressed it feels like a different person in my head but when im singing this song aimed at the other side of myself it feels the most accurate and real

Well most people are there neighbor and the spectrum is wide when I m thinking of my parents singing this I feel kinda shame in expecting them to be civialized I mean Africa aint that far away and i know what my parents nature is ... Hearing you reflect it to your other side tho makes me kinda feel as tho the song then turns away from parental towards child and is a inner conflict so many anti Christian foneys preaching wrong or Paul's word and not focused on god I almost feel like everything hostile is directed at me and they think I m their dad

For me this song is about my abusive parents. I was so close to ending up just like them but I chose to live a better life. I chose not to let those experiences hold me back from being a good woman. I'm nothing like them. I'm proud of that ❤

As a parent this song resonates harder than when I wasn’t a parent cuz after being called ugly fat stupid worthless by my mother I would listen to this as well as other TDG songs and cry about it, vowing to never make my own child feel the way I did. Three Days Grace's first ever number one hit on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks and Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Adam Gontier reflected on the meaning behind this song; he said: "It's about being told how to live your life. When we were growing up, we saw it sort of first hand. A lot of our friends were pushed into doing jobs their parents were telling them to do. It's about being pushed around and told how to live your life and standing up for yourself." Adam McCann Point taken. Even so, I'll never understand this "I miss the old [insert group here]" comment, as the new music does not replace the old. You're very very rarely going to find a group that consistently releases albums with similar quality and nearly similar sound. Musical evolution is inevitable, so any hopes for congruity is simply a pipe dream. And when you do have congruity, more often than not it just starts to stagnate. Such is the case for me and Three Days Grace, among other groups. I should probably add that I haven't been a huge fan of three days grace, I mostly just think their music is... averagely decent? I guess I would say.

My favourite song by Three Days Grace just for how relateable it comes across as my whole life I've been worried about the opinions of others and as a result I haven't been living the life I wanted but instead the life other's Insist I lead basically be just like them. This song showed me that I'm not alone and that there are many others who think just like me and the lyrics show me that Inspite of what everyone thinks of me and what they want me to do I can say no to them and live life on my own terms and have the courage to stay true to my principles and core values despite pressure from the external world to conform to the values of the majority of people but at the expense of losing my unique qualities and all the things that made up my authentic self. Thank you Three Days Grace for not only making great music with passion put into it but also music that speaks the truth not only for my life but also for the life of many others. Three Days Grace rule!

The "you" in this song, the one who thought I could be just like it, in my take of this song, is just the void, the abandonment, the turned back, the despise, the act of letting one behind, the negligence. Sometimes the person who hurts you the most is the one who you never see, never talk to, it's someone who totally despised you and turned their back on you. They're not trying to mold you into aything, they're just ppl who don't care and if asked why they would answer "it's been like that, it will continue to be like that, nobody cares", so that's what they mean by "expect to be just like you". The one who turn his/her back on you expects you to lso be someone who never gives a shit about anyone. Someone who doesn't care about other people's feelings. Nothing hurts more than ignoring who loves you. Nothing says a person is cruel more than showing they don't care. A father that leaves his family, a romantic love that was never mutual, a selfish "friend". What your enemies wish for you really don't matter, but what those you care about mean or do to you, that's fucked up and when they actually don't care, that is where the most pain is.

Once there was an ugly barnacle I'm assuming you are wearing clothes you bought at a store right now, and because of the way modern clothing is made you are also sinning by wearing cloth of multiple types of thread. I don't give a shit if you want to hide your hate of gays behind the Bible, but you may want to start actually following the thing if you want to use it as an excuse. That also meaning killing women who have sex before marriage and killing women who have a divorce. Read up, friend.

@alexdelagrange2140 9 жыл бұрын
TheDireLynx I've read up friend. Christians do not have to adhere to Jewish secular law. I'm not sinning by wearing clothes I bought at a store. You're just ignorant.
@TheDireLynx
@TheDireLynx 9 жыл бұрын
Once there was an ugly barnacle That's just the tip of the iceberg. Now that we can both agree that the Bible and variants of it aren't always moral, do you understand that morality comes from those around us and what influences us, meaning society around us? This is how Atheists can still have morals without believing the bible. By the way, do you happen to know what bible you follow? King James perhaps?
@alexdelagrange2140
@alexdelagrange2140 9 жыл бұрын
TheDireLynx The Bible is not just a religious book, but also a historical one. The Church has made its dogmas based off of the teachings from the Bible. Jewish secular law had nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus Christ. It just happened to be part of the lives of those who lived in that time. Morality certainly does not come from those around us. Right is always right and wrong is always wrong. They never change because they were defined by God. Atheists cannot have morals because they're constantly changing and based off mere opinions. What was wrong yesterday could be right today and vise versa. That isn't morality. That's stupidity. I use the Douay-Rheims Bible.

You know for some reason, I feel like you can use this song against people nowadays who are leftist and coming up with pronouns and transitioning in gender in crazy ways and then expecting everyone in the world to accept that.

I was in a music store when I picked up this album back when I use to carry a portable CD player that couldn't even fit in my jean pocket. I fell in love with this band and have followed Adam ever since, brings back memories

I never realized how much of a fan of 3 days grace I am. I've turned on 5 songs so far that I know every word to and with earbuds in I can the subtlety in the vocals.

I first heard this song when I was a teenager and didn't totally understand it but I loved it regardless. It's a little sad that later now that I am an adult I actually understand what it means and relate to it so much. It sucks feeling this way, but I'm also glad I have it right now.

This song is a picture perfect representation of how my sister treated/treats me. I was never allowed to step outside her perceived idea of what I should be yet said I should be creative and criticized me when I tried. Even after all these years she can't put her ego aside to even attempt to see my points of view. It hurts.

This song is a reflection of my life. From many years of verbal and physical abuse living under my mother's roof using fear to control me. I could have ended up like her, but despite everything, i'm the complete opposite of her. And I'll never change who I am.
