❤ this, it is so epic and nostalgic. I'm a play it by ear novice and got more out of your video than anyone else's. The first problem was that no one was using the right voicing. It just doesn't ring true on a cheap plastic piano. Thanks for your awesome version!

Thank you for not trying to play the VOCAL melody on piano like everyone else. As a guitarist ive always been so confused as to why tf pianists always seem to be so obsessed with trying to integrate the frickin vocal melodies of piano songs into how they play it at the expense of learning how to play the actual piano parts of the song right, its the dumbest thing to me.

And then insult to injury is that it never even sounds good, it always sounds so lame and weak when you take a vocal passage and try to transpose it to piano, especially in rock songs. It’s so frustrating trying to learn keyboard parts of rock records the way theyre actually played on records

Actually, the original piano part played by Jimmy Greenspoon on the famous studio version was played on a Hohner Pianet not a Wurly. But the Wurly and the Pianet sound very similar so if you play it on a Wurly most people can't really hear the difference.

@Tidiouter --Yes the 200A is an IMMORTAL CLASSIC. love them. I think it's funny how they seem kinda tiny "solo", but when amped and in a band they blend a full tone into the perfect EQ place. Do you agree? How does that work? Can you do "ONE" by 3DN? That's always been my favorite key part by them. Above all, Thanks for the great work!

Thank you! Learned it fairly easily by pausing the video, and using the half-speed option in the settings.

EXCELLENT! I love the tone of your Wurly, and your taste in Music! I'd love to hear you do Ray's "What I Say" on the Wurlitzer!

Yeah the original Wurlitzer opening on JTW was on the wooden tube model. I want to say the 145B Wurlitzer, because the amp was tubes you could overdrive it better than our 200A models. Giving it a grittier/fuzzy sound. Remember most of the late 60's and even early 70's stuff using a Wurly used the wooden versions. They were still hanging around many recording studios. Wasn't til around 1973 1974 when most studios finally updated with the 200A's.

I read that 1973's "Dancing In The Moonlight by King Harvest was done on a wooden model Wurlitzer.

I love the sound of this electric piano. Is it a Wurlitzer? or a Fender Rhodes?
@petesonday60336 жыл бұрын
advokris Wurlitzer, Wurlitzer is always more distorted than fender

Olivia Williams then just listen to the notes he's playing. Here's a hint, it's predominantly in the key of D major with some off chords for dynamic

Not sure I would call this a lesson. But it does sound good. You need to actually Teach us how to play it. Not just sit there and play
@Judasmac9 жыл бұрын
Use "k" on your keyboard to pause on each chord when he's playing slow, look at his hands, and use your ears. Pretty much major triad chords all the way. The bass hand is mostly playing octaves; but you could play single notes with the left and play three or even two note major chords with the right.

Jonathan Baker that's a classic Wurlitzer 200A, very professional and expensive piece of equipment, not for average players.
