Reminds me of the Quake of ‘89. I was there living about 20 minutes from the epi-center. We were having 3.0 and 4.0 quakes for about 2 weeks before the big one hit. My children were 3 and 4 at the time and they still remember it. Prayers for those living in that area, get your bug-out bags ready.

I have noticed a correlation between strong solar flares from the sun with earthquake/volcanic activity. Hmm...great time for scientists to see any correlations between seismic activity and solar activity (Earth and Sun relationship) since we are in solar maximum 2025, which is the same position when the Carrington Event to occur. My theory is that the strong electromagnetic pulse causes a change in the earth's magnetic field which is created by the solid and liquid iron core. By changing the magnetic field of the earth it induces eddy currents in the core which could disrupt tectonic plates

Hi Stefan. Great information. You weren't born yet, but I was the charge nurse on the 8th floor of a major San Francisco Hospital Critical Care Unit when the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake occurred. It felt like King Kong grabbing the building and shaking the hell out of it. I had to tell a nurse she couldn't go home; otherwise, her patient might die. I went to our sickest patient receiving a clot-busting drug for a heart attack as he watched on TV the BayBridge collapsing. He pointed to the TV screen, saying, "My son's on that bridge coming to see me!" Too much more to say here. Darn, though, it wasn't the big one! That will still happen. Interesting; I'm from SF too and have lived in North Beach, then down the Peninsula to Millbrae, San Jose, Santa Cruz, etc. When I lived at the top of the hill in Millbrae, we barely felt any quakes (bedrock) but when I lived down near the airport (on fill), a mild quake would send the bed going across the room in one direction and the tv in the other! I remember, as a child, having to walk to school in SF while the sidewalks were cracking around me and in school, so many kids were crying as the quakes kept hitting that they decided to send us all home. My childhood home there still has damage from the 1980 earthquake. California is one of the most beautiful states in the USA but you can pretty much count on cycles of fire/food/earthquake/repeat.

I was watching GeologyHub just now about a shield volcano on the boundary between the Pacific and the Juan de Fucca plate. It could possibly erupt this year and while it's not really dangerous it could set off movement of the Juan plate and move some activity along Sans. It's not usually large quakes. Only a small 2.6 recently possible 4.0 maybe when it erupts again it's been 10 years.

Part of Anchorage, AK sank due to liquefaction in 1964. A friend says his house was spared, whereas the whole neighborhood sank. Shorelines changed a bit where they were flat- trees died due to saltwater immersion and submersion.
