Good find! 200 euro a piece is v good, the liner alone is worth 200,250.. Totally agree re decal placement, they were a bit all over the place, especially later war and on Luftwaffe's as the LW eagle was harder to apply

Thanks! Indeed, that was my thinking as well. So buying the helmets was a no-brainer, even if it meant draining most of what I had on my bank account haha. Indeed, I've seen some very badly applied LW decals but also others like the Heer decal on this M42 or a Polizei decal on an M42 I used to own.

Very interesting and informative video presentation of these finds. I agree with your sentiments regarding spending huge sums of hard earned money ! I remember in the 1980s, before replacement liners and parts were widely available, buying empty helmet shells / bells for £10 GBP . No one seemed to want them without a liner ! I'm sure you'll find a good original helmet some time as well, it just takes patience. I started with junk helmets as all of us did most likely.

Schönes Video und schöne Helme 👍🏻 - Helmwappen sind wirklich ein Kapitel für sich. Ich habe einen Bodenfund Helm auf dem ein verrutschtes Wappen drauf ist. Wie Du schon sagtest, es wurde nicht alles immer gleich gemacht und es gibt sogar extreme Ausnahmen. Viele Grüße aus Brühl

Danke dir! Allerdings, zumal es da auch verschiedene Hersteller gibt, und das auch nochmal eine Wissenschaft für sich ist. Und genau, es gibt auch viele originale LW Helme, bei denen das Abzeichen in sich auch verrutscht ist, wurde aber trotzdem so ausgegeben. VG aus Bonn!

hi servus wie hast du diese helme gefunden? jedesmal wenn ich einen halbwegs guten helm finde kostet er astronomische summen auf kleinanzeigen sind viele banditen unterwegs hast du irgendwelche tips wie man einen so guten helm findet? ich bräuchte nur einen für ein kommendes schulprojekt aber ich sehe es nicht ein 150 euro für ein rostiges zerdrücktes etwas zu zahlen hast du vielleicht paar stichwörter die man auf kleinanzeigen eingeben kann um so was zu finden?

Hey, also einer der Helme war wie jeder andere auch auf Kleinanzeigen gelistet. Da es nicht weit von meinem Wohnort war meinte ich direkt, dass ich den Helm abholen komme. Gesagt getan. Dabei kamen dann die zwei anderen Helme ans Tageslicht, die ich dann auch direkt gekauft habe. Und ja, du hast Recht, auf Kleinanzeigen gibt es viele Betrüger, daher muss man sehr aufpassen. Da ist eine Abholung immer am sichersten, oft klappt das natürlich aber nicht. Ich suche ehrlich gesagt immer nur den Begriff "Stahlhelm" und wenn man halt schnell genug ist, hat man mal Glück. Aber ich habe auch schon viele gute Helme verpasst, da muss man nicht direkt die Flinte ins Korn werfen, es finden sich noch immer genügend Helme in Scheunen und Dachböden.

@@PotatoDigger so bin ich bis jetzt auch verfahren leider noch ohne erfolgt. Glaube ich hänge mal paar flugblätter in den umliegenden Dörfern auf da hat man glaube ich mehr Erfolg auch einen fairen Preis zu bekommen Viel Erfolg

@@tavish4699 das ist auch ne Option. Ansonsten einfach geduldig sein, man findet schon was. Günstig bekommt man halt selten was, die Leute wissen meist, dass die Sachen Geld kosten.

You can clean the shell casing with ketchup. Buy the biggest ketchup bottle you can find and mabe a soft paint brush, softly apply some ketchup around it "thin layer" and let it sit for about 30minutes "or more", and then clean the ketchup off with warm water, easy way to clean is to put it on the shower floor so you don't make alot of mess. You might have to repeat it some times. If the ketchup is to runny you can add little flour to it and make it little bit thicker "like an paste" so it's easier to get the ketchup to stay on the shell 🙂 *The more acidic ketchup you can find the better, i have used Felix and Heinz Ketchup and that worked well on old copper items. Vinegar also works but take longer and it's hard to make it stick.

Yeah, it is kind of inevitable, but when I explain it to people they usually understand, especially since I study history and archaeology.. So, it fits in that regard :) Luis
