I leave the life on National Geographic Orion behind and proceed with the life on my sailing yacht, Yggdra. This summer, we went sailing in Sweden. Expedition sailing. Exploring the Swedish archipelago. We encounter strong winds right after departure. The crewmembers learn how to sail while getting to know each other. We go looking for islands where we can moor up and let our ship´s dog lead us on adventures. We get to know new parts of the Swedish nature. We visit the Blue Maiden, Blå Jungfrun, again.
We were able to keep the sails up and sail through an archipelago, barely seeing any other boats. With countless of hidden bays and narrow sounds surrounding us, waiting to be discovered. The powerful impressions induced by the nature and the demanding navigation made us fully present. Like if we were in a dimension where nothing else existed.

Nicely done, Johan. It is beautiful watching Yggdra cut through the waves and high seas, she makes it all look very effortless; it's surprisingly calming to watch. Shippa is adorable and I'm curious to know what it's like to travel with a dog over such large distances. The logistics of having an animal on board a ship seem potentially complicated, but it's awesome that you and your crew make it work. Finally, the details you added about tying down the ship correctly as well as all the things you have to take into consideration when sailing, were an awesome addition to your video. It really enhances the viewing experience for all of us. The videos are both fun to watch but also very educational. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I'm looking forward to the next video already!

Hi Marie! Yes. Looking at how she moves it looks so easy. In that kind of weather it still feels that you are out at sea. The sounds of the wind in the rig and of the water flowing past the hull. Of items banging around in lockers. Especially as this was the first sail for almost a year, there were a few items that starts moving that we you have forgotten to secure. Seasickness kicks in for some and the attention that the sail handling and navigation requires, combined with some nervousness, makes it a tiring but stimulating experience. It feels very good to finally arrive. Especially for Shippa. Having a dog on board makes all the difference. Shippa spent her first 2 years on a cargo ship where I worked. The breed, Schipperke, can´t get seasick and they are bred for being on boats. That makes it a lot easier. Like you see, we still need to give her a fair share of attention, at least on this first leg of the journey. Im´m glad you liked the mooring animations. My favourite hobby is to tie her down on some new rocks like this. I will keep that aspect for future projects. Thanks for your fine feedback! It gives me extra motivation to get going with the next video! Take care!

Tack Knudan! Haha du har rätt, det var tider det. Hade man vetat att man 15 år senare skulle sitta och skruva i en båt hade man haft svårt att tro det ❤️

Thank you Aleks! Yes I am always quite nervous before starting a job with the engine. It felt very good to spend some time down there to get to know the old thing a bit better.. Its a Finnish engine, Valmet. 6 cylinders and 120 hp.

You are actually not the first to say that my radio voice resembles that of Dracula's.. Haha I just like dramatic narrations, they might be a bit over the top sometimes.
