Thus far I'm about $550 in on various items added to the bike, double what I paid for the bike. I'm not counting stuff like the rack, bags or lights that I already owned. I had a lot of this stuff on hand already for various ongoing projects. The wheels, stem, cassette, and drivetrain seat and seat post were the things I purchased specifically for this project.
I plan to upgrade the cranks and BB as well as the front fork. I will probably also upgrade to a touring seat made for women by Terry. I obviously need new bar tape.
Affiliate links for incidental items I generally carry with me and are on the bike:
pair of water bottles: amzn.to/3zkcBsp
rear brake light smartish: amzn.to/3XFgMJa
front bag: amzn.to/3L565s1
Feed bag: amzn.to/3VE1Qsl
rockbros kids feedbag, remove cartoon face: amzn.to/4eE4Ld7
I bought a 3rd pair of Antora 2s. They fit me so well and feel really good.
This is a referral code- you get $20 off and I get $20 off. Anyone can get this code from Merrell, they offer it to anyone who orders from their website. refer.merrell.com/leslie.herger

Thank you! Thank you! That's the plan! I'm really loving this bike. Despite having a vintage kona that I built up last year I keep reaching for this one!

I’ve never regretted money sunk into saddles. Finding the right one is super subjective, can vary with the bike it’s used on, and be hit and miss. It’s definitely a project!

I'm with you. The other saddle I bought, a Serfas women's saddle, is great for a commuter bike, really really comfortable but it's not great over 20 miles. I won't regret the saddle I'm planning to order, a Terry touring saddle, but it's a big hit to the wallet!

Looks good! It takes a while to see how each upgrade performs. I do a little at a time too. I like the handle bar choice. It always seems there is not enough room for accessories and hand positions. Thanks for sharing!

awesome, great job. I do my upgrade incrementally too. It's easy to get overboard in one shot. I have learned that there is gonna be trial, test and see what works. I always gauge my upgrades based on my needs. That is the best thing you can do. One new product that I'm doing a test is suspension seat post for gravel bikes. I love it. highly recommended. thank you and keep up the great stuff!

Thank you! A suspension seat post is on my list of things to consider. I REALLY like the suspension stem. It just smooths out the ride a little bit and makes everything a little more comfy.

Ozark trail g1 is perfect price for me. But I need medium size. All Walmarts near my location have the small frame. Beginner rider.

It's a great starter bike for sure, especially if you want to learn how to maintain and upgrade. The frame is solid and can handle a lot. I'm doing mostly smooth gravel and some green trails with minimal technical stuff and it's great. Keep an eye on your walmarts! One will pop up eventually. Also FB market place, some people have posted that they've seen these for around $100 on there. The 3 walmarts in a short ride had the small and medium in stock for a VERY short period of time. They've been out of stock for ages now. And there are NONE on the sales floor ever.

Dang you pack a lot of stuff on your bicycle. I stick everything in my backpack. Sometimes it hurts really bad but I’m trying to stay tuff. I just have lights and a bottle cage on my ride.

I put 2 water bottles into the frame bag. The pannier has stuff for making coffee and camera and art supplies. The front bag has batteries for my osmo action, my glasses, sun block, and keys. I try not to have anything on my body since it stresses my back out. The feed bags have my phone with gps directions and the other is the water bottle I'm using. The pannier is pretty lightweight the water is the heaviest thing. Sometimes I have a camp chair strapped on there. But lately I've been carrying a little thing waterproof mat for sitting on.

Why did you put a 12 speed on your bike @ got rid of a 2by drive train. I am up grading my drive train on my g-1;gravel bike. I'll keep my 2 x drive train and install a nice climbing gear. So I'll have all the gears I need for any occasion. And guess what. All for 50 bucks. Sounds like you don't know bike's really good. That was a down grade you did, for what.

@@LessISMoreHealthy why, i mean go from 14 to 12. i really like your handle bar. what brand is it and how much was it? i am putting a 34 free wheel on mine. this will be 2 more climbing gears. right now i am having a popping sound when i pedal. we think it is the bottom braket causing it.
@LessISMoreHealthy

It's 2x12, so 24 gears. There are links in the description for everything. Bottom bracket can make popping sounds so can a whole variety of loose thing. Check out Park Tools channel on bottom brackets for better diagnosis of BB issues.
Increíble final 😱
