Thank you for the recipes! One of my daughters came down with a terrible cold and cough over the weekend. I found using an immersion blender to blend the salve ingredients in a deep coffee mug worked much better for me for mixing the salve than my Vitamix with its 64 ounce pitcher. The Vitamix iwas simply too big to bring such a small amount of ingredients in contact with the spinning blades. We’ll see how it works. Right now DD, 10, is disappointed she can’t hide in our family game of hide ‘n seek tonight. Everyone says they can smell her even before they see her, lol!

Awesome! I like to add peppermint essential oil to my drinking water when dealing with a cough. As for garlic, best remedy ever! I was wondering if you have any recommendations for an alternative to lavender oil for babies? I've never liked it and my baby couldn't stand it either, she'd cry and fuss more whenever I tried to use it for her few colds. She does love mint oils though (which I've been told not to use on babies) as I have it in my hand oil.

Thank you so much for this video! It is very timely as my family has been hit hard with coughs this year. Question about the salve use on babies. I've heard that EOs should not be used on kids under 2 but there is Lavender EO in the salve. Have I heard incorrectly or what makes it baby safe in this instance? Thanks so much Carolyn!
@breathoflifefarm71972 жыл бұрын
Lavender EO can be used on babies, but any EO should be used in a carrier oil (like in the salve Carolyn made) when using for babies. There are some good resources online and also a book on using EOs for babies. I think the author is a nurse.

Question about the garlic - isn't raw garlic sometimes harsh on sensitive skin? I used it once on myself just chopped up and it caused a rash that burned - does blending it with the oil make the garlic less harsh?

Do you have a recipe for something called horse salve? My grandma always had it. I don’t know what it was made of. She used it for lotion, cuts, burns. I do t know if it was actually for horses. As a kid I thought it was called that because it was made from horses? Now as an adult I realize maybe it was made for horses 😬 she would get it from someone & stored it in an old pill bottle so no ingredient list. Thanks for all the information you share.

@jbbrowneyes2 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure she meant to apply externally…topically -directly to the feet,chest, back and throat of the baby as young as newborn. Applying every time you nurse is more about frequency, so that you do it enough times a day, so you really don’t need to apply it on your breast at all.
