Three New Criminal Laws: Explained Pointwise | Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita | ForumIAS

Three new laws got implemented in the country from July 1st . Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced that from July 1, 2024, the Bhartiya Nyay Samhita 2023, Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Samhita 2023 and Bhartiya Sakshy Adhiniyam 2023 will be implemented in the country.
These three laws are not new, meaning the old laws have been upgraded, in which the Indian Penal Code i.e. IPC made in 1860 will be known as Bhartiya Nyay Samhita i.e. BNS, the Code of Criminal Procedure or CrPC made in 1898 will be known as Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Samhita i.e. BNSS and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872 will be known as Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam i.e. BSA.
