THANK YOU ADAM! When you warned of spoilers I actually paused the video and went off to watch the movie. Completely missed it back then(I was a HS Jr in '87). It is a FANASTIC 80s movie. Not only is the execution of it amazing, but it is also such an accurate time machine for me now. The grammar books were the ones I had in school. The dress and hairstyles and stuff were not exxagerated, just kinda normal 80s. I mean it pretty much looked like any school in America. They took a pretty basic high school story line and make a heck of a film. And of course you made a great filming location video as you always do.

HEY ATW...THE PRESERVATION OF THIS SCHOOL IS PHENOMENAL! They have done a great job of keeping this location , an actual functioning school, in pristine condition. This 80's flick also features so many actors it's mind boggling. Buddy is played by Richard Tyson-the bad guy from Kindergarten Cop. The school nurse was played by Alice Nunn-"LARGE MARGE" from Pee Wees Big Adventure! What an impressive episode this morning! The level of creative freedom you and Sean were afforded is unheard of in today's society. Incredible.

This brought back some fun memories. Not only was I an extra, but I also got to work with the local casting agent in recruiting extras. Casey Siemaszko was fun to be around and was always kind and considerate. Richard Tyson was always getting into his character and no one dared to approach him. Liza Marrow, who played Karen Clarke was not only beautiful, she was also very gracious, friendly, and courteous. I got to know her while sitting next to her in the classroom scene with the nature video playing (which took like three hours). Final a big shout out to the director Phil Joanou. He did a great job for his directorial debut. Like most movies, none of the scenes were shot in order. I did not fully understand his vison until the movie was released. needless to say, I was impressed. I got to know many of the crew which made being an extra on this movie a great pleasure and a lot of fun.

What a perfect, intimidating, epic-looking high school. Perfect for the movie. I remember when the movie came out. I was a Senior in high school so I really felt this movie. Lol. In fact, there was several guys in my high school who could’ve played Buddy. Long hair, wearing jeans and boots, the wallet with the big chain on it, and looking several years older than everyone else. Lol
@hprotz66002 жыл бұрын
It's a historical site and Architectural Landmark, which is one of the reasons it's so well-preserved. It's still a working school. I grew up 10 minutes from this school. It's a beautiful building. It's Art Deco, btw, not Gothic. It was the first "Million Dollar School" and funded through the Works Progress Administration during the depression. Anyone who grew up in or around Ogden is really proud of this school. There was a big community push and fundraising effort to restore the building more than had been preserved already in the 2000s (around 2006). Filming still happens at the school for various things every now and then.

I graduated from this High School and knew a lot of the extras that were in the film, The school is the first million dollar school west of the Mississippi built, first class graduated in 1938. Some of the scenes, when Jerry was in the reading class was filmed in the evening and they had scaffolding erected outside of the windows with lights shining in the windows to make it appear daylight

I was born in 1982, so I was a small child when this movie came out, but I never heard of it until now. This is undoubtedly the most beautiful high school that I have ever seen. It’s so random, to me at least, that this architectural masterpiece of a high school is in Ogden, UT. I wonder if perhaps Ogden was able to secure a large sum of federal Works Progress Administration funds in the 1930s to build this school. That would explain how they would have been able to build such an ornate school. It would be nice if every school could be this nice, but it would also be astronomically expensive. It’s a shame that buildings with this level of beauty and craftsmanship became rare in the post World War II era.
@marvwiese96682 жыл бұрын
Hi.. I attended Ogden High from 1967 to 1969.. So.. YES.. I have been inside!!! For three long years! LOL The school building was the first school in Utah to exceed 1 million dollars to construct in 1937. Total cost was 1.2 million dollars. This "walk through" brought back a lot of good memories for me.. A quote from another source: "Ogden High School was designed by the local firm of Hodgson and McClenahan. It was built in 1937 with a local bond issue and funds from the Public Works Administration and the Works Progress Administration, New Deal programs during the Great Depression. In 1983, the building and its sumptuous auditorium were listed on the National Register of Historic Places."

I just love the old gigantic & majestic granite and brick buildings existing all across our Realm. Did members of that secret bricklayers society construct all of those fantastic structures, because they’re look very similar all across the world? Or, as I have heard, were they just “found” by a new civilization of humans after a catastrophic event “reset” the earth and it’s population? Is that also why we use the word “Found”er to associate the original builder? Or…does it really define that these glorious structures were “found” and not built??
