Thank “goognam goognws” for posting the comment above. I admire you for trying to watch that film even though you don’t know a word of Japanese for the sounds and songs. Even I, as a Japanese, found myself fuzzy and foggy like the weather in the film in spite that I could hear Japanese somehow but that in fact I didn’t understand clearly what each shot was about.

もう一度字幕を見てみる。「演出・佐伯清 昭和20年7月製作」とある。 The subtitles say first of all with its title in Japanese 北の三人,Three persons in the North that the film was directed by Mr. Kiyoshi Saeki and produced (i.e. on air) on July in 1945. It’s just before on Aug. 15, 1945 when Japan did not yet surrender to the Allied Forces, though the nation had actually lost even without A-Bombs following immediately on Aug. 6 Hiroshima & 9th Nagasaki.
