Was very confused with one of these concepts. Thanks very much for clarifying.

Good question. Reading the problem is often the hardest part...no kidding! Here the load is 9+j6. To make things easy, we are using the "per-phase" approach. The load is balanced, meaning evenly distributed over each phase. When we observe a single phase of the circuit, we see only 1/3 of the balanced load. Hence 3+j2.

Thank you man you are awesome... i hope you make videos on electronics tooo they are many electronic students alone not having any source to study because its not popular as electrical thank you hahha

I have a few questions that I need some clarity on. Thanks in advance. 1. Does the line "Z" refer to the impedance found between the load and source? 2. Does the load "Z" always refer to a single branch of the load or is this some total load "Z" value? 3. How do we know that the phase voltage asked for in the last part of the question is not referring to a voltage across a branch of the load? 4. Are the load branch voltages referred to as line voltage? This seems to be where I am having a little trouble at.

1. Z (line) is the impedance of one of the transmission lines. So yes 2. In balanced three phase systems I believe it is customary to give the load as per phase. 3, 4. Look again at the first part of the video. In delta, the line voltage is the phase voltage. In wye, the line current is the phase current. We convert delta to wye to develop a per phase solution. But in wye the voltage we obtain is between phase A and neutral. If we want to accurately describe the phase voltage of the delta system we need to find the voltages between the lines. I hope this helps!

You were very clear! Thanks ;) Just one question: is it arbitrary which delta voltage you substract 120 degrees and which one you add it?

Jose Luis Haddad that's what mentioning the sequence abc is all about. If it was acb, 120° would be subtracted from Vca instead of Vbc.

I dont understand how you got Van, what is ur process when u say plug it in. i have tried playing with sin/cosine but i cant get it.

Hmmm. I thought it was because we converted the delta to wye that's why we divide by 3? as u mention Zy= Z(delta)/3?

Hey sorry, isn't the load 9 + j6 as stated in the question, instead of 3 + j2?
