For those that dont know the enemies that we are currently facing were the fodder/low teir units of the squids. Apprentice are the overseers and still do melee. And the Harvesters were the Tripods. Granted the Tripods were killed in 4 or more hits so they were beefed up in the last 100 years but still. And the Watcher is just the tiny observer that died in one shot. So yeah these were considered the weakest enemies. Its like dropping into a bot planet with nothing but troopers and all the devistator varients and calling the bots easy. What made the Squids hard was the Hunters, the Obolisk, and the Illusionists/Council Members. Once these type of enemies make ot to the battlefield...that mission fail rate % is gonna go up

@@Derjeniche1510 Think of it this way. The only thing that makes the other factions higher tier enemies difficult are the numbers of the lower tier enemies. Tanks, hulks, impalers, titans, and chargers are easy until you have 100 hunters jumping for Jesus or 20 heavy devs, 20 rocket devs, and 10 rocket striders blotting out the sun with projectiles. Knowing how to clear the horde is just as important as killing the elites. Especially when everything can be one tapped by a recoil rocket.

Was pleasantly surprised at how effective the MG 43 is against energy shields. Great for mowing down voteless too and if you can focus fire on harvester leg joints they go down very easily. Great option all round

Ive found the exo-suits(particularly the 49) are a lot better in urban maps and against the squids. The quad AC-8s will stagger/smoke everything the illuminate can throw at you(as of 12/23/24). The urban map provides the mechwarrior with cover(no getting one tapped by cannon turrets from across the map). The street layout forces the enemy to charge light brigade style into your guns. Against the voteless(crunchies), their claws do minimal damage to your mech, and simply colliding with them will kill them. Firing at the autocannons at the ground beneath the voteless will woodchip most, stagger whoever’s left. A mechwarrior stomping down the street, will blunt the charge of the voteless horde, and get clear shots at the overseers and tripods. You are Main Street’s Apex Predator. Be the spearhead that puts you and your team in control of the urban battlefield. Get in the robot, helldiver.

I figured out this exact strategy. Both mechs are amazing against the illuminate. I find the patriot to be a bit more versatile since 1 rocket into the entrance of a docked saucer can destroy it, cleaning out bases very effectively, and 2 rockets can bring down flying saucers very quickly. Plus, the rotary cannon can turn grounded and flying overseers into super Swiss cheese. But the quad auto cannons are still amazing at crowd control, blowing off overseer armor, and tripod toppling. Dreadnoughts are the bestnoughts.

@ I tried out the patriot and yeah I think it’s just as good as the autocannons. Rotary cannon will clear shields super easy, and shred overseers. Rockets one tap tripods in the joints. Downing saucers are also super cool. I’ve found that by focusing on overseers, and lettting the mech’s bulk clear/blunt voteless charges, the mech gets a lot more staying power.

As someone who has been on the squid front for a good portion of the time squids have appeared, I'm delighted to have a faction where my light pen weapons finally have a chance to shine. Also, as a proud Arc Thrower specialist, I've been having a great time running an Arc Trooper loadout like you proposed, although Ive been using the new Killzone SMG as it's great for shutting down enemies that I need to get out of my face yesterday. An odd sentiment I have toward the squids is in regards to stratagems. It feels totally different in terms of which ones I bring. For the other two fronts I tend to bring Eagle Airstrike and then some other Red and Blue stratagems, but for squids Ive found myself leaning much farther into the defensive, low-cooldown stratagems like the sentries and Orbital Gas/Precision strike. I love me my explosions, but it's refreshing to have a faction that requires such a different approach.

Honestly I wish you could at the very least have a separate stratagem pack for the Quasar so it would reduce its cooldown between shots, because that is annoying asf and the only reason I refuse to run it. Maybe like a battery pack or something, maybe it could also affect energy weapons in general, reduces the cooldown between shots for the Quasar and increases the damage output of the beams for other laser weapons.

Another stratagem id like to add to consideration. The Walking Barrage. Especially in city maps, Ive been using it religiously against the squids. When I convinced my buddies to bring it too, it just became an explosive advance through enemy held territory where we became mostly a glorified cleanup crew.

Something I've noticed while fighting the squids is bringing the plasma pistol is nice to have since it provides a good AoE that can quickly clear a handful of voteless in a pinch. It also can take out the larger squid enemies in 2-3 shots. Hope this helps

I really hope the devs add the support weapon detail to the Siege armor effect on-paper. _REALLY_ hope they don't remove and/or _'fix'_ it... As otherwise, it's really not worth taking over the Engineer or other such passives. Primary weapons getting a few percent moar ammo total is kinda _'meh';_ meanwhile an extra magazine of for the MGs or 'nade-launcher, while less easy to manage than sheer recoil reductions, is great for saturated/suppressing fire on enemies.

Diving 95% of the time with random people, I tend to use gear that make me able to handle any situation. The best loadout I found against the squids so far is a heavy armor with the siege ready passive, the Scorcher primary to deal quickly with overseer, the MG 43 to clear mob of voteless and down shield, and occasionally shoot the hips of harvester; the grenade pistol to blow landed UFO and squid tesla tower; a jet pack to regain back some of the mobility stripped by my heavy armor; an HMG emplacement when I need to clear multiple harvesters or hold a point, and a gatling or fire turret to clear the mob or hold extract until Pelican 1 arrive; and the fire impact grenade, as it work wonder against tigth group of voteless. Work like a charm, until the illuminate show us more of their forces.

I use the Sta-52, with the light Siege armour, paired with the Guard-Dog and grenade launcher. Absolutely mows through Voteless and can put serious hurt on Overseers, since the Bullet-Dog is Armour-Pen 3 and can strip their armour pretty quick

I may or may not be wrong, but people don't realize just how strong the TENDERIZER is against Illuminates I think. I feel like not a lot of people realize that the voteless's leg HP is 80, and when you take out their legs, it'll basically render them useless and they'll bleed out crawling on the ground. So Tenderizer (and any AR/DMR that has deals over 80 dmg) can basically one-shot Voteless by blowing off their legs, and I think Tenderizer with really great recoil/ergonomic and ammo per mag, is probably the best one, 280 total rounds, that's 280 dead Votelesses without any effort. Honestly, i've been using just Tenderizer alone to deal with Voteless hordes, after knowing that they bleed out after having their legs blown off, it's been real easy, you don't need to aim for their wonky head hitbox or takes 2-3 rounds to kill each Voteless, or even bring Guard dogs or a horde-cleary support weapon for that matter. Not to mention, Tenderizer probably easiest to deal with Overseers by shooting their THIGHS/LEGS, instead of their body (which is blocked by their weapon and arms most of the times), especially against the Elevated ones, and with Tenderizer's 850 RPM mode, you can easily melt Overseers faster than most options. I've found it takes only roughly 13-15 rounds to kill an Overseer in their thigh. Yes, Adjudicator and some other guns are medium pen (but tbh, it only matters via headshot mostly) and you can kill an Overseer with 6 shots to the head with Adjudicator, but it's not the most practical way to go about it most of the times, and with Adjudicator's slower fire rate and worse recoil/ergo and slightly worse ammo economy, I think Tenderizer's the overall better option, in terms of TTK and horde-clear.

Agreed, though in my case I keep the fire rate flipped to 850 and pair it with the Liberator Guard Dog for its ability to instantly headshot Voteless and Overseer alike as a second source of damage without expending all my attention and ammo. Now I gotta try the leg meta!

My favorite squid loadout is what I call the Pest Control Gas strike, gas grenades, sterilizer, the senator, and the punisher Blind squids are rather bad at their job, and the Noxious Ranger armor makes it very easy to lure hordes of voteless into the death cloud And the Punisher is there to tell the Overseers to stay in the gas and think about what they've done And I've also heard rumors that the punisher's guaranteed stagger works on tripods too, but I haven't had time to verify this claim Expert Exterminator Alex "DoubleAU" of the 133rd Hell-Goobers corps. Fun fact for the same reasons that the frag has it's niche the Eruptor is also very potent. It can got some one-shot headshots to Overseers, strips their armor failing that, takes shields down in one shot, and even deals significant damage to the joints due to the shrapnel not being explosive. It's a fantastic support weapon that you can then combo with the stalwart to be the ultimate team support.

The reload spd does work with HMG. Been going Blitzer, nade pistol or offhand of choice. HMG with supply backpack using the heavy armor that gives the reload spd and more ammo armor passive. I go with a support style/control w/ gatling &/or gas strike due to low cooldown. And blasting tripods with my HMG to quickly break shield and teammates finishes it off or I can solo and take out a leg if no one around to follow up, oh last thing molly that has the fuse time and not impact due to the dmg being almost double the impact version, really nice to use vs the swarming voteless.

I guess you can use these but i really recommend you use the flamethrower, its very good at clearing hordes and its flames can go through the tripod shields and can kill them pretty fast if you damage its weakspots. It also kills overseers pretty fast, who would've thought the best way to cook squids would be with fire?

@@epsilon1572 I can test it out, but I play on middling difficulties so I can't guarantee it's amazing at higher difficulties. Edit: After testing the sterilizer a bit at Difficulty 7, this is what I can see: Against the Voteless, it kills them with a spray, as well as confusing them and separating the hoard from one another, so it's great against fodder. As for Overseers, it will confuse them and seems to make them switch to melee, where they'll attack the air. Damage is bad, but that's not the point of gas. And for Harvesters, it actually seems to confuse them, as well as go through their shields. I aimed at the bottom of the head-thingy, and it applied, where it then proceeded to miss its taser on me. So, pretty solid, though it's probably more worth it to bring gas grenades/gas orbital and bring a different support weapon like the flamethrower, laser cannon, or MG43.

my personal Squid-killing loadout is the following Primary: the euptor/crossbow- used for general explosive chaff clearing when I need it, but also for blowing up structures, and dealing with overseers amidst groups of voteless Secondary: the stun spear- because it's fun Support: Any of the MG options, including the stalward. The idea being the same as the assult rifles in this video- it gets rid of shields easy, while being good at swarm-clearing backpack- Either the Supply pack, or the Gaurd-dog (the liberator one), because having more ammo, or guns shooting things- is great in this particular faction.

Since very early in the invasion, I figured out a go-to build against the Illuminate I call "Light and Fire", using complimentary fire and laser weaponry. Against the Illuminate, the Laser Cannon is incredibly versatile so far. As you observed with their shields: rapid, sustained light fire takes them down quick. While the LC may not burn down Voteless fast enough, it melts Overseers and can just about take down a Harvester with a single heat sink. Setting enemies on fire is a nice touch, especially if you can sweep the beam over multiple targets. Speaking of which for the Voteless, I've gotten downright unfair mileage against them using the Breaker Incendiary, if used properly. Instead of merely blasting the guys in front of you with direct damage, arc the flaming pellets over whole crowds and they'll wither on their own. A slightly longer-sighted view of dealing with a horde, by taking care of the whole group at once, both immediate and soon-to-be problems, all with only a primary. For secondary and grenades, at least one of those should be an explosive to take out Warp Ships through their open doors. The other can be backup laser pistol or incendiary grenades if you wish. And of course, the Laser Drone backpack greatly helps to keep the Voteless and even Overseers off your back. You can run for your life and the drone takes care of most whatever chases you. For offensive stratagems: Orbital Laser and anything with fire, even the new flamethrower sentry. Orbital Laser is super useful to take out landed Warp Ships. And a bonus to look the part: the Gold Eagle armor with the banner and cape "Light of Eternal Liberty".

Dear CommisarKai, I have been experimenting and practicing with the Eruptor. I started using it when they gave us the Stalwart personal order, and I haven't put it down since. It can do some unique things that can give your squad an edge in the heat of battle. I'd recommend pariing it with the MG or HMG. Would also recommend pairing it with the dagger as it will give you that pinpoint accuracy in close quarters without putting your squad at risk. With machine gun support, you can take out squid fabs from across the map. You can stun lock the harvesters like a the Democratic Hero you are, saving your squad and simultaneously giving them the opportunity to drop them like flies. Using this with the jump pack, you can obliterate hoards in mid air. This is a rare primary against the illuminate, and I've had a lot of fun with it. A big tip i found is that the ballistic shield blocks the LOS needed for the harvester to lock onto you with its laser, and blocks all of the overseer ranged attacks.

my personal preference for fighting the squids. Sickle Senator Impact 'nades Recoiless Sickle tears through the voteless and shields, and the Senator can tap the watchers+ overseers. Recoiless exists solely to delete the harvesters

Ive actually turned a new leaf with the illuminate. My main primary since theyve shown up has been the eruptor, as it pairs super well with the stalwart or other MG of choice, two shots overseerers, stagger locks tripods, and destroys warp ships at up to 145~ m range

the new siege armor is by far my fav armor now. it feels SO GOOD to use. hopefully they keep the increased magazines for all weapons and dont make it do what it actually says. itll still be my fav ofc, but that extra magazine on support weapons is so nice. the armor actually allows me to use my aesthetically favorite gun, the libetator carbine, without feeling like im constantly reloading and out of ammo lol. combining that with the guard dog, MG turret, gatling turret, and the booster that gives resupply's a turret is soooo much fun. never ending streams of bullets.

I usually run arc thrower with laser dog. It kills small groups of voteless without having to stop and charge arc thrower and acts as enemy warning when you are stunlocking harvester, plus it provides extra DPS against harvester's shield. For other two slots, orbital gas strike makes dealing with small and medium bases very easy job and helps defending when squids are coming from multiple sides, and FRV is my beloved.

Having played with the squids for a little bit now myself I have found using a sort of hybrid class working really well when the team isn't always a team. I personally run the Roadblock armour, New Plasma Rifle, Jump Pack and HMG with a Stun Baton for backup. I've found this means I can deal with basically everything with relative ease especially with the Walking Barrage and I'm still tweaking to find the perfect fourth stratagem to bring. Tactic wise I personally use the Rifle to pick off Overseers in Close to Long range depending on when I see them and for killing every single watcher I can find. The Jump pack is great for getting over the walls if you're in a bind or getting up high to really use the Rifle for those long range shots or just to recon for the team as well as jump away if there's too many Voteless around me. If there's only a few I liberally use the Stun Batton mixed with a few good kicks to give myself some space as well as ensure my squad mates can focus the objective or getting away quickly. The HMG is great in case there's too many Voteless/Flying Overseers as well as being amazing at dealing with the Harvesters both in terms of stripping the shield and killing them, and finally the walking barrage is a god send when it comes to taking out their landed ships. All you gotta do is line them up and watch it go, or if you've got a large group following you throwing it down at your feet and jump packing to safety.

Another great combo with the arc thrower and gas grenades are the machine gun and gattling sentries. Drop them in key spots, lead the horde to them, then watch as the horde gets mowed down while the overseers get stunned and sniped. Combine with a bubble shield to give you extra tankiness (which will help ensure you dont die to your own turrets as well).

One loadout I've been using as a generalist, inspired by today's personal order, is the Dominator, Crispr (side arm optional), Stalwart and Supply Pack. Personally I use two sentries (Fire and Gatling) but the last two stratagems are personal choice. You can take out most enemies with the Stalwart, the Dominator is great for picking off Overseers and the medium pen and really high damage deals with the Harvesters about as well as the AMR. The Supply Pack makes you self-sufficient, allowing you to take on a more Ghostdiver style of play while your team is distracting the squids. Take out objectives while the enemy reinforcements are on cooldown and support the team with ammo packs and stratagem uses while you wait for the next big push!

My favourite combo is blitzer, laser drone, and commando. Blitzer is just super good against everything, and commando rockets one shot Harvester joints.

I tend to enjoy generalist loadouts, simply playing playing with randoms you never know what you'll get and it's great not having to rely on them. But, if I'm with a group of people I can communicate and strategize with, then synergy is amazing! I usually have been running penetrator, grenade pistol, gas grenades, eagle strafe, orbital gas, guard dog, and laser cannon or machine guns (honestly thinking I prefer laser because I can bring down harvester shield with primary and then hit the joints more reliably with no recoil...also it's free to bring down spawner shields). When specializing, I often like to take on the role of focusing on heavies or running a more supportive role, but crowd control is also really fun.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the machinegun, minigun, and flame sentries. The high fire rate, medium armor pen, and cramped city confines make them very effective. Throw one into an ally as you run past, and you can stop the voteless horde long enough to stop and lay heavy fire into the whole group. Also, the stairs and slopes all over allow the placement of turrets above your allies, limiting friendly fire in unfortunate moments.

Commissar, I have to recommend fire as well for purifying the voteless. The fire damage is usually enough to kill any voteless and it ignores the armor of the Overseers if you want to specialize even harder

I honestly haven't tried fire against them yet, but it does make a lot of sense to ignore the overseers armor and cook the voteless. Might be worth using the torcher primary and something like the AMR or HMG for a support weapon. I'll try it out!

A weapon I've found very effective for the squids is the Stalwart. It mulches Voteless and nearly instapops shields, and can shred Overseer's armor and drop them extremely fast, too. Especially if you turn up the RPM. I've found not having stationary reload is a massive advantage over the other machine gun strategems. The only thing it can't kill is Harvesters, but having a friend or using your other stratagems can cover them easily.

For the first strategy, the Tenderizer has been a fantastic light-penetrating weapon to defeat Overseers and Watchers due to its high fire rate, damage, low recoil, and magnified optics. I've begun to love it more than the Diligence Counter-Sniper for its ability to drill anything that flies, runs, or crawls no matter the distance or number of enemies. The siege ready armor is a necessity though, as ammo is common but the reload speed is tediously slow.

Another combination I've been loving is using the Halt with the Redeemer. The Halt's stun rounds will stop Elevated Overseers even from yards away while the flechette rounds are fairly decent at thinning the horde. The Redeemer is a decent secondary against the horde if used in controlled bursts, but its primary functionality is to strip shields of Tripods and Squid Ships. Highly recommend this build, and you can combine it with the AMR or Heavy Machine Gun if you want to kill the Elevated Overseers yourself

I've been calling the Sta-11 the "Stalleven" or the "StaL". It's pretty good, my go-to primary for Illuminate. Not for everyone, a fellow Diver I play with prefers the Cookout, but having options is great so people can do stuff like this and find their personally more comfortable fit.

The energy shield and the spear is seriously overpowered, I face the overseers head on I could stun up to 4/5 of them if done right, seriously dope to just march down the enemy head on.

Commissar, try my generalist loadout if you have the time; Primary is flexible but I run the Scorcher or Liberator Impact grenades for ships or mobs Orbital Gas-Eagle Napalm-HMG-Supply Pack HMG can be used on overseers if selected primary is less effective, but I find it shreds harvesters at the joints, especially helpful to lower the RPM. You can also destroy the shield generator on the harvester in one or two shots to free it up for a friendly with AT and it destroys shields quickly. Taking a peak physique set is a must however, but you get more ammo carrying the supply pack plus stims when you need em. I can easily solo level 10 missions with this loadout, with all the crowd control from gas strikes and napalm you can usually free yourself up to deal with overseers and harvesters that you can't escape from. if you try it let me know how many enemies of managed democracy were added to your kill count.

Personally, I like using the Sickle, paired with the Senator. Sickle is mainly for Voteless. If I need to deal with Overseers, I can pull out the Big Iron, or I can spray and pray with the Sickle. From there I use Incendiary grenades to deal with Voteless, and can bring EAT or a Quasar Canon to deal with Harvesters. The Laser Drone is also incredibly helpful. But, I play solo since my laptop can't handle multiplayer. Or anything above Hard difficulty...

I've been using the Defender & Senator with the Ballistic Shield and Commando, and I've been loving it. Having the ballistic shield to eat Overseer shots while I line up the easy headshot is very nice

Honestly, just the regular ole machine gun is all ya need, even for harvesters. Take a knee or go prone, line up on the top leg joint and let em feel some cave-man tech level fury. Pops the shields, rips ablative armor off, does it all*. Pair it with yer fave primary (I like max speed tenderizer for mmmmooooooar dakka) and make some sushi. pewpew! *(All subject to definition, may or may not do all) Aight, ya need somethin to finish the spawners.

I have to say I took a break from the game for awhile and came back with the Squids and it has let me experiment with so many things, such as finding out just how awesome napalm is. That being said, I am happy that the Mounted HMG is still a great option for a diver. I have no idea why it is so slept on when it counters most of the bots pretty easily and completely deleted the chaff and harvesters of the squids. If anybody hasn’t tried it, it’s really fun, especially if you combo it with a shield generator.

My personal favorite loadout is using the new Kz2 sniper armor with a impact incendiary, stun lance, and dominator or KZ2 sniper rifle, paired with a jump pack to get on top of buildings and either an AMR or HMG for absolute overwatch support, i like to bring a napalm strike with either a shield gen for the team or mech for the team to use, or an FRV so team mates can get away for me to distract and hold back. Honestly the stun lance may sound stupid but its actually a great option as both the lance & baton can keep enemies at bay, get em in a group then jump away and burn em down or mow em down! Either that or a combat medic loadout that utilizes one-handed weaponry with the directional shield, using my extra stims to run in and heal team mates then run out and lay down suppressive fire.

Personal favorite loadout against the Squiddies is an anchor to the team. Taking the new SMG, the senator and impact grenades with the new urban armor is fun. Ehat really makes it stand out though id the ballistic shield I pack. While not very useful against the voteless, it lets me zero in with all the leisure time neccessary for headshots with the senator, which one taps any Overseer. The only thing that can break the shield at the moment is the tripod (Voteless ignore it, its why we bring the SMG). Else, I bring MG turret and the Heavy MG to clear out shit in a hurry and the AT emplacement to cosplay my best interpretation of a german 8.8cm flak cannon.

I hope they end up spreading the ablative armor to the other two factions. We already know what unarmored devastators look like (berserkers) and I can't imagine it would be that hard to texture some armor broken bugs

I like to do the blitzer for clearing out the chaff and stun locking the overseers. Paird with orbital gas and walking barrage for those pesky ships and a nice mg43 for stripping shields or going rambo on a horde or popping the jet packs. The arc thrower works buuut i zapped 1 too many teammates and the shotgun cone style makes it easy to use danger close. Blitzer also stuns those stupid floating ipods but takes 3 shots maybe 2.

Ammo backpack medium armor pen sniper rifle(green one), crisper(handgun flamer), heavy machine gun. the light "fast reaload" new armor. nades for ships. Tripods wipes turrets, so some big boom from above is more effctive in the open. but, rocket turret helps against overseeers flamesthrower agains hordes. in citx the ge cover from tripods. that how i get myself most effetive to the not so friendly aliens.

9:40 Tesla weapons are very good I agree but also dangerous... to the team mates. Because there are so many enemies the lightning can chain quite a bit of times so you need to watch out not to insta kill your party members.

I don't see enough people use the normal guard dog against illuminates, it's already in my personal opinion one of the strongest stratagems but performs even better against them. It's literally a aimbot and therefore aims for the enemies weakpoint, it deletes overseers in less than a single burst and onetaps voteless. Additionally, it remains operational when in use with emplacements, which is super useful. And again, this is passive damage that you get by just existing, nothing stops you from using a MG untop of it.

I'm only a begginer but I personaly found the HMG Emplacment extramly usefull against them. It can clear hords, excelent against harvesters and also incredibly good against overseers. I never go witouth it against them.Also AIM to the LEGS! The armor is the weekest there and takes relatively few shoots to kill them
