Inviting the viewers to point the moral of parables with different stories each week, Serdar Tuncer tells “A Word for A Thousand Akches” this week in Biri Bir Gün.
In this episode, Serdar Tuncer mainly talked about the following:
Assalamu alaykum, dear friends. This week I will tell you a story directly. So direct that… I will tell a story without even stating whether it is “direct” or “directly”. In fact, I can say something like this before going into the story. There are things we know, things we don't know, and things we think we know. What we know is useful to us, what we don't know is useful to us if we are aware that we don't know. The things we think we know... Those are the ones that often cause trouble for us. I won't say that either.
Also, Rumi gives us a very good example to explain the difference between what a person knows and what he thinks he knows. In the Mathnawi, he says, "Imagine a rich man. He has camels. He will sell some of the camels. He calls a crier. He says, "Take these camels and sell them." The crier takes the camels. As he walks through the village, he puffs himself up, and walks as if he is the owner of the camels. Why? For the people to see and say, "Wow! Look at his camels, he is such a wealthy man!" In the meanwhile, the real owner of the camels is sitting at home, sipping a steaming cup of coffee. I could say that Rumi gives such an example to explain the difference between two kinds of people: 1. Who pay for something, comprehend and internalize it, so own it, and then express it to others. and 2. The parrots who hear a word from someone and tell it to others. But I won't.
