All the talk coming from the players from last year was KJ was not a leader. He spent as little time with the team as possible. He didn't care about learning the playbook. He didn't try to get to know how receivers. He regressed terribly. He couldn't throw to anyone besides tight ends because that was the only reads he could make accurately. O line was so bad at understanding blocking schemes because before Enos became the OC Cody Kennedy didn't know how to teach good inside outside blocking schemes. KJ was good with Briles because he was only looking at one or two receivers every play then extending the play. Enos tried to get KJ to go thru full passing progressions and he was just way to slow at it. Taylen Green's leadership and the way he cares about his team really should help this team fight they adversity. The schedule is a nightmare but expect Arkansas to win games they will be heavy underdogs in. I really like what Mateos brings to the o line. His outside zone schemes combined with Pittman's inside specialty should be drastically better than last year. Expect he o line to play fast off the ball and give Taylen time to make plays. Hopefully for KJ's sake he gets back to being a team player and works hard. He can be great but i just don't know if Gus will put up with his lack of work ethic if he doesn't change that from last year.

That's an excellent analysis Chris! First time I've heard anyone put it like you did: "Taylen Green will be what we thought KJ would be last season." That's a great point and spot on. I'd add one more reason. An offensive line with three huge upgrades in Carmona, Blackstock, and Nichols with hands on coaching by new Coach Mateos and the one of the best Oline coaches in the nation, his "GA" Sam Pittman.

That doesn’t matter. I’m tired of fans like you who are complacent with moral victories. Who cares if we lose 100 games by 1 point. A loss is still a loss. And it seems YOU forget. Even though we almost beat Bama lsu and ole miss, we got smoked by a mediocre auburn team and byu team and couldn’t manage one dang td to miss state. If we were really a good team, we would have had no problem winning 7 games last year and 9+ in 2022. You’re just getting your hopes up. Again.

KJ Jefferson was more of an Achilles Heel than he was an asset last season. he is super talented, but a terrible decidsion maker on field and in the trenches. I’m really excited with what we have seen and heard from Green. What is even more inspiring is how excited and protective this offensive line is of Green. They have all adopted him as their leader and have all rallied around him. Ain’t appears that there is some strong synergy there!!!

I can remember when Brandon Allen was here and his O-line took it personal when any defender got close to sacking their QB. They loved their guy like he was precious. I wonder of KJ made his linemen not care for him after the poor blocking last season. With an improved line alone this team would have been dangerous, but add in Bobby P. to that equation and it should be great on that side of the ball.

@@radehart go look up best of Arkansas sports interview with Isiah Santegna. Can confirm that a lot of sources say KJ for sure spent no time with teammates outside of practice and couldn't care less about anyone but NIL and getting drafted the next year. He just didn't put in the work with his receivers or learning the playbook to actually get better and get drafted.

And Yurachek said checkmate, I hired your replacement as a coordinator. Yurachek made two great choices this offseason. One getting rid of that midget Muss and his inability to coach offense. And two eliminating a big buyout on Sam. Bobby gets a free year on Sam and by year two he can have the pieces in place to be a top ten team.

That's not necessarily true. The affair in itself wasn't the problem. You opened the University up to a lot of potential lawsuits hiring your mistress for a job that had over 125 qualified applicants. She on the other hand was not. Bobby Patrino didn't get fired for lying about the motorcycle accident or for the inappropriate relationship. He got fired because he hired his mistress to the staff. So no legally and ethically Jeff Long made the only call he could make. That being said I think bringing him back was more than a good idea. Now he has something to prove and he will be a excellent OC. Bobby never could recruit defense so keeping him at OC uses all of his talents and stays away from his weaknesses. Great hire
