A lot of nice wood that is easy to get to. It seems like all my trees fall into a ravine. I am always working on a hillside and can't get the truck close to the wood. I have a John Deere Gator and it has to haul it all out. It is also nice to have a lot of help and a tractor. Those saws were cutting good

Yes James I have been spoiled cutting at Greg’s farm! The tractor and help makes it seem easy😂 I’m on the same boat when not at the farm. Most of our wood gets hauled out by our 4wheeler. It works, just not as easy. Thanks for watching and commenting 👊🏻

In the last few years, for some reason, they have been uprooting in wind storms and icy rains. I had 21 go down at the same time in an ice storm 2 years ago. I have 9 right now that are leaning in other trees or standing dead.. Unless they are on the ground, I leave them alone because I am not able to get to all of them at my age. @@toddsoutsideagain

Pulling out is the safest way to get those snags out and down. You get to hook up from "safety" then be away when it hits the ground. Tractor, skidder, or pick-up pull it like you did get that butt end out for easier processing and loading. I have been pulling out even when they are not hung up for years, saves the knees and back. Nice work!

nice team work, id like to see the young man use that long bar to his advantage when bucking logs on the ground. use the end of the bar and take some stress off his back. thats why i run long bars. of course my back is older, lol . glad to see family working together.
@toddsoutsideagain
@toddsoutsideagain 5 ай бұрын
Yes, I agree. The only thing is that the 400 will seem to two-stroke a bit when using the tip of the bar. It definitely likes to be buried into the wood. That being said, we usually don’t use it for the smaller trees, but we were tagteam in this to get it done quicker, we normally would just use the 261. Thanks for watching and commenting.👊🏻

You said you need a tractor. I would like a 4 wheeler. Just not in the budget right now. I have my truck my 5x8 utility trailer my wheelbarrow my lawnmower and trailer for the mower. That's what I have to work with. I might have to buy a used 4 wheeler and fix it up. Taking a class in small engine repair now. I'm 55 and just tired of paying people to work on my equipment so I'm learning how to repair my own stuff now. Good video as always.

That is the only way to pull out a snag! Do you have any secrets to getting rid of the stumps once they are cut down? I have a few in my yard that I have cut but need to get rid of them. Stump grinding is extremely expensive in our area.
@toddsoutsideagain
@toddsoutsideagain 4 ай бұрын
Yes a tractor to pull down snags is the best way. I’m grateful to have family with tractors! As far as the stumps we are fortunate at the farm to just cut them low enough for the bush hog to mow over. If you need one removed without grinding it we used to get a long drill bit and drill them full of holes. It helped dry them out so we could eventually pour some oil on them to burn them out🤷‍♂️ Thanks for watching 👊🏻
